I haven't listened to radio 1 for ages! I think the advent of radio 'celebrity' has ruined it and that all think we want to just hear them drivel on about their dull lives!!
Then again local radio DJ's annoy me too lol I wish they just had radio with music and adverts and maybe news and weather lol |

It started to go downhill since they got rid of jo Wiley. Since then it has got worse and worse culminating in them getting rid of Chris moyles. It wasn't so much that they got rid of him it's why they did it.
Ben cooper publicly announced that they don't want anyone over 25 listening so they no pander to the short attention span shallowmusic taste 15-25.
They used to play a fantastic mix of music new, old and so on. Now it's just pop no better than capital or other commercial stations.
The only saving grace is they still have the live lounge, Greg, Scott and Zane. Although I think Scott is next in firing line due to his age.
And Zane.
In my opinion they changed a format that did not need changing and they have deleted massive amounts of music from their archive so it's all new stuff. New but crap. They must play 1d 10 times a day now.
That said I am not ready for the retirement home that is radio two yet. |

I find Radio 1 is full of DJ's talking about what they did last night, and Grammys camped up voice annoys me.
Radio 2 has Moira's fake laugh, its like having Frank Bruno read the news.
Kiss FM at breakfast has 3 DJ's who spend hours just laughing at their own private jokes.
I tend to listen to cd's on the way to work, but the radio on the way home. |

Sara Cox was the worst spending 2 hours telling us what her dog did when she got home.
I have emailed them before telling them 'I loved that live lounge just then it made the hairs on my arse stand up' but they didnt read it.
They did however remove my post on grimmys wall once when I said they should sack him due to his voice |

Completely agree. Pandering to the age bracket where the majority dont pay the licence fee.
I spend my time now flicking between the stations. If only my machine had had a aux socket id listen to my ipod. |

Just sack Nick full stop he is just annoying. All he does is talk about who he was out with the night before and how hungover he is. There was a out cry when Moyles mentioned being hungover. |

I have never liked Radio 1.
To me, it tries too hard to be current and on trend and the dj's think every piece of music is 'amazing' when in actual fact it sounds like someone has put some pans in a tumble drier and pressed 'start'
Am I officially old now ? |

As the saying goes your only as old as the person your feeling
Am I officially old now ?"

They DJ's at 1 extra need to sit a little bit further away from the mic, its like being at a rave.
I also don't understand some of the stuff they say but when my friends ask 'what I have been up to' I often reply 'The usual, holding it down, keeping it tight'.
I have no idea what that means either |

Not listened to Radio 1 for many years.
I love listening to radio from across the pond in USA, New York and LA. Via the Tunein App and VPN
Either that or spotify playlists when I just want to listen to the music without the chit chat

I am in my 50s but used to love Radio 1 but once they got rid of Chris Moyles i fled to the safety of 5live, i do miss the music and banter of Chris Moyles but 5live is good too.
I dont understand why Radio 1 wanted to alter who listens to it becuase it was successful then so why change it ?? |

XFM is amuch better option for current music that avoids pop shite
Plus you get a few indie / alternative classics thrown in.
I tend to rotate between that and Smooth depending on my mood. |

"I find it much more palatable now that Moyles has gone. Could never stand that man! "
I loved Moyles but his time was coming to a close. Scott or Greg should of got his spot.
I just cant stand what Grimshaw and Cotton put. Dev who does early mornings is far better |

Haven't really listened to R1 since the days of Simon Bates and DLT, though if I remember the dance music on a Friday night from 7pm to 11 is very good!!!! |

Radio 4 for me, but when I'm feeling young and trendy I do listen to Popmaster on radio 2.
Mrs Bendy is a Radio 1er, and does try to educate me about modern stuff. |

Last time I listened to radio 1 Gary Davies was doing "bits and pieces " on the road show in Great Yarmouth or somewhere like that !
I've recently put it on when there's nothing else on and it normally stays on for 30 sometimes even 40 seconds ! Shit DJs playing even shittier music !!
Radio 2 had a good blend of good classic music and the better quality new music. Apart from that extremely boring, deadly dull man on Saturday mornings they have some good quality DJs too, simon mayo being one of the best |
