What is with blocking as a reply?

What I said in the post... I am not into messaging a lot, in fact I barely do so, and I am always extremely courteous.
If I do not get a reply I just assume there is no interest and move on...
So, what is with blocking for a reply?
Well, I know I am not the one missing out. |

Blocking is just another way of telling you they are not interested in you, you dont need it spelling out and you dont get the opportunity to ask why like many people do, just accept they dont want to meet you and look elsewhere. |

Oh, I do get that it means she is not interested... it just seems a very rude way of saying so... I am new to this site, and the scene really, so there's got to be a learning curve, right?
No hurt feelings on my side, it just seemed a disproportionate reply, but I imagine that is the norm here... note taken.
Thanks for the advice, Keen, I will surely look into that as soon as I get more time. |

People block for all sorts of reasons...avoid getting abusive messages when they don't respond, avoid getting abusive messages when they say no, block if it's obvious messagee hasn't read profile, block as not interested and won't show up on future searches to name but a few...
And neither you nor the blocker is missing out - what the blocker obviously didn't want isn't going to be missed |

Thank you Blonde. I would not have been surprised if it was for one of the reasons you mention that is what I would do and expect in return.
But as The devilinus say... a "No, thanks" would be nice too.. I imagine people get bombarded with messages, which is probably why those are not given out.
About missing out, what I meant is... having me blocked does not make it effectively as if I did not exist in the future? well, closing doors IS missing out for me. |

Welcome OP. I answer all [sensible] messages but not everyone does so they block to avoid further messages. I only block when they can't take no for an answer and message constantly! Good luck and hope you enjoy the site  |

This  I dont see the need to block unless someones given abuse, taken the hump or not taken the hint. |

what?
you message someone, as you are interested in them, yes?
they reject you as they are obviously not interest, and block you so you dont waste either of your times, and THEY are the one missing out?
think someone is deluded and has a somewhat high opinion of himself |

But what difference would a no thanks make? End result is still the same.
The harsh reality is that people that don't want to meet you have no need or reason to pander to your sense of entitlement. |

I block for several reasons, if the person becomes unpleasant, if I see a status update like "so many fatties on here"' and if I keep getting messages from someone I've said no to or I can see isn't the kind of fella I'm going to ever meet. Saves my time and theirs too really. I do often think it seems harsh, but it's necessary. |

I once had a bitchy letter I mailed back as could not understand why and was blocked. Some don't wish to here what you may say back so block you . I now think really I should have reported it .. And will if I get that again here . I have no one in block had no need too .. so far and been here years. |
