you could call yourself any of them if you wanted to. I would have liked to call our daughter Portia but we knew too many people would think it was Porsche.

Brighton - even Hove!

I recall when 'old fashipned' names such as Jack and Stanley and Ruby became popular again. I think the fashion for name is cyclic, so at some point the Keiths, Kevins, Deborahs, Tracey and Sharons will be fashionable again.

Steve, is of course, a timeless and elegant name.

I absolutely love LOTR names. Legolas being a personal favorite. Saw the name Katria the other day and really liked it. If I had another daughter, I would strongly consider it.

You're all bonkers. These poor children just want to be called Jack, Bob, Clare or Sophie. We can't go naming them after our favourite TV characters or the places they were conceived. It's very important for children to fit in, there's enough worry about the first day at school without the fear of the piss being ripped out of you for having a daft name.

Various friends of mine have named their kids:

Xena - Yes after Xena the warrior princess

Dolly - I like this

Katia - Army friend heard name in Afghan or Iraq and liked it

Phoenix - Not sure if after actor or what..

Cassady - Can't stand the name myself

Beau - and the kids surname is Butler... poor child

My oldest child nicknamed my youngest Titch, it stuck over the years only he's six foot three and towers over all of us, still raises eyebrows when we're out and we all call him Titch and he answers to it.

I reiterate my earlier comment. Please please please if you are having children soon don't name them after superheroes or characters from fantasy films. They will hate you for it.

"I recall when 'old fashipned' names such as Jack and Stanley and Ruby became popular again. I think the fashion for name is cyclic, so at some point the Keiths, Kevins, Deborahs, Tracey and Sharons will be fashionable again.

Steve, is of course, a timeless and elegant name. "

There was a little girl at the park last week called Deborah, first time in years I've heard someone else called my name who wasn't around my own age.

Stephen is far more classy don't you think? The PH adds more gravitas. "

Love Steve or Stephen x

Victorians had a fashion to find unusual names for their children and there are numerous cases of Cucumber, Mustard, Mayonnaise and Cocoa becoming quite common. Things that appeared in that era.

So perhaps we should think the things of the 21st Century and use Twitter, Drone, GeeEm, Apache, Hadoup and Apps ... Just kidding.

Bodicia, Napoleon, Gengis have not been used for a while, unless for animals ...

My brother wanted the name Blade for one of his kids thank god he had girls we love that name if we have anymore kids ( a boy)...it will be blade!.."

We were thinking of naming our last son Blade. Other names in the reckoning were Cleaver, Hatchet and Machete. But in the end we settled on Swiss Army Knife. His sisters Spatula and Fish Slice love him.

I'm not sure, I just assumed it was an obsession with Japanese swords.

Since Blade kept coming up. I think Fish Slice could be a new winner though! x

I had one pregnancy that was a girl and I had planned on Martha if she lived.

Georgia and Dylan for a girl, and something Andrew, and Sky for a boy.

I've always fancied naming my children names in songs so I can sing their names at them

I would love to call a son after Marc Bolan but I went to school with a Marc who was a dick so it's put me off. Might have to go with Bolan instead

He does, hence why these aren't serious contenders.
