Great film, not easy viewing at times but then it really shouldn't be.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I thought it was beautifully shot, the music was great and the acting superb. The book is written in a rather spare and matter of fact style so to pull the emotion to the fore took real talent.

Using Henry Louis Gates Jr as the historical consultant was inspired and I can't think of anyone else who could provide the details that made this film feel so authentic.

The original music is exceptional. I thought it was all traditional until the end credits.

For me it was a truly harrowing film which was to be expected but it made difficult viewing at times. All the more so to know that some of humanity still continue to suffer such horrific and cruel prejudice around the world....simply because of the colour of their skin, their religion, their sexual orientation or any reason that gives ignorant excuse for such sadistic and inhumane barbarism. To those that continue to suffer prejudice of any kind, I am truly sorry.

Even reading back my post from above, I am aware sounds so trite but I am not sufficiently gifted nor ever will be...to summon the right words that could do justice to the description of such suffering. I only pray that some might be inspired to be more aware of the ignorance and consequences of prejudice in all its forms, for we hall have lessons to learn.

They are good thoughts not trite
