my problem-
i have windows vista, when you start the computer it gets to your login page where you put the password in and bing your into the desktop, not a problem.
ive set up another profile/account/login whatever you call it to use for guests.
for some reason when i click on the internet before the page can load and get to my homepage, a message comes up saying nothing but two choices-
1 look online for a solution- which if i click it just searches forever and nothing happens,
or
close the window, which does what it says on the tin.
im using an ethernet cable so its hard wired, on my account when i login it connects automatically as its hardwired no need to do anything.
i was wondering if anyone knows of the top of there head what this could be, as ive looked at connections, and tried to logically find an obvious cause but cant?

Possibly because you have not granted them internet access in the options.

Log into your administrator account and go to Control Panel - User Accounts and select the Guest Account. From there you should be able to manage which services it can use. Hope this helps. |

Have you got a firewall running? Check to see that the Guest account is allowed to use the net with the firewall turned on.
An easy check is to turn the firewall off briefly and try and connect via guest account. |

lol ive already lost my temper once tonight with dropping a large heavy object on my little toe and turned into a slightly hilarious version of captain caveman, so im just going to forget the idea for now as i do like these forums and if the caveman decides to get involved in "fixing it" i could end up and ex fab swinger very instantly indeedy lol |

you say your connection is hardwired through the eth0, my question is, is it a dialup modem you are using with the logon settings controlled through your networking properties on vista?? if so then your guest account will never in this lifetime be able to logon using it as it does not have the permissions and there is no way to give it permission.
if its a router you are using with the logon settings stored in the router itself then let me know and we can look further into it.
