I wonder how many guys who've had him looking over their Rodgers and up their back passage, are now worried they've caught gay.
What if they cure him and he doesn't like being not gay, he'll lose his dress sense. |

Plus he is very out as being gay.
It's not that long ago that being gay was considered a mental illness. A lot of the radical treatments he will be testing have been used in this country. All of those gay people locked away and given ECT and aversion therapy in institutions right here in Britain.

I didn't know he's gay either. Then again, I don't pay any attention to who is and who isn't. That stuff doesn't get to take up filing space in my head. |

He spoke about attending an exorcism in london where some poor guy was afraid to be gay and just wanted to be free.
up until 1993 WHO had it down as a mental health issue. Im certainly wanting to watch this. |

It's not easy to be 'out'. Especially not for men. In some bigger cities/ towns it's more acceptable but in small towns you still might get your head kicked in. |

I find it such a shame that even in todays society, people are so concerned about someone elses sexual preference.
I can understand it years ago when people where ignorant. But its such a shame that people are still ignorant.
Be proud of who you are, gay, bi or hetrosexual.
Wonder what it would be like if most people where gay and it was the minority that where straight |

its horrific, my other half was in Yemen a few years ago and heard what he thought was a riot going on. It was actually a mob of people going to see someone being stoned for being gay. |

It's a death sentence in some countries. Russia, India, parts of Africa are all reversing tolerance on being gay and enforcing homophobia.

maybe in a Cpl of hundred years or so we will as humans have accepted that we are just that, regardless of colour, gender, sexuality and disability etc..
and stop being intolerant to the point where some people are treated the way they sadly are today..
maybe.. |

I didn't know he was gay either. It't a bit odd though on embarrassing bodies how they get everybody to take their kit off but you never see any of the doctors bearing all in the name of science. |

The docs don't need to embarrass themselves to get on the telly. |

That's the point of the show though, to bear all so people can see that you shouldn't be embarrassed about your bits. If you're less embarrassed then you are more likely to go see your gp if something is wrong. |

The point is to sell advertising to companies who want customers who like to see weirdos getting their kit off on tv in the hope they'll find a private clinic or Harley St consultant who'll pay big bucks for what is essentially product placement. |

I suppose, but at same time, parents could take young man to a doctor and be diagnosed as bipolar or something and he may top himself too. Also some of the cures were not so outrageous. The thing he was doing with elastic band for instance. That technique is called anchoring and quite successful in the cure of phobias. It wouldn't make you straight but would help you live a straight life if that's what you wish to do. |

He maybe is now living a lie now to keep everyone happy. |

This definitely must not be offered on the NHS, diverting funds away from better cancer treatment etc. It's shocking that it's mostly the religious that are pushing this, and it should be pointed out for the bigoted stand that it is, as well as harmful.
Much better to be replaced with sexuality acceptance support treatment, if needed. It was a bit of a let down of a show, as it didn't pursue enough treatments in depth, to show how useless that they are. Orientation may vary naturally, but imo it is something that we're far better to just accept, even if we don't act on it. |

I think it demonstrated pretty well that the 'treatments' were a load of rubbish. Interesting how the 'ex-gay' people wouldn't take the 'gay test' at the end.
I thought it was really sad but such is the world. Religion always seems to be about loving and caring- but only if you fit their ideals!! |
