"Did anyone else spot what was quite possibly THE best 'in joke' to appear in a film?
The dodgy robot owl"
Spot on
Let me explain further for the rest of you. Firstly, it's a remake of one of the last films of Ray Harryhausen, the guy that brought us the amazing skeleton fight in Jason and the Argonauts, and a whole load of other great fantasy films in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
Unfortunately Clash of the Titans was not one of his best, mostly because of a ridiculous metal owl that was almost as ill conceived as Jar Jar Binks was in the Star Wars prequels (I'll never forgive Lucas for that). In the new version, as they were fitting out Perseus there came a muffled chirping noise that was vaguely familiar to me, he reached into a chest of old junk and pulled out a metal owl.
'Oh no!!' i said to myself 'Not that fucking owl?'
'What's this?' said Perseus to a soldier.
The soldier glared at Perseus, said 'Put it back'....and that was that.
I was the only one in the cinema laughing.....hysterically |
