"Maybe give more thought to who you give your number to?"
Could you be any more patronising?
Why blame the person who gives their number out? It's the guy here who couldn't listen and respect wishes. This sounds like the advice given when women get assaulted - 'Oh, maybe give more thought to what you wear?'

The thing is anyone can message anything at anytime...which is the joy of text!!
depends on your phone but if I'm at my mums and get a text I look to see who it's from before opening it.
Actually I tend to use whatsapp for that kind of messaging and keep my iMessage for family & friends. |

Believe me I can get way more patronising.
And it's not the same thing at all. And trivialising rape and sexual assault is really not convincing me that I'm wrong in thinking that anyone that gives their primary phone number out willy-nilly to random horny men on a swinging site has to take some responsibilty for their actions. |

I kinda don't get someone being curious about a person receiving a text as it's such an everyday thing...when I'm in company I'll either ignore my phone or possibly glance at at it - whether a text from a Fab friend, colleague or mate I wouldn't bother responding 'til later as I consider it impolite to chat by text when in company unless absolutely necessary...if I then received others from same person I'd knock my phone off. The point of mobiles is to receive calls and/or texts when mobile - if that's inconvenient then drop the phone down a drain.
OP - ideal response if anyone asks - "Bloody PPI twonks" |

thetalkingsteve i think you stepped over the line there comparing a guy who sends a couple of inappropriate texts at a bad tim e to sexual assualt. Yes the guy clearly didnt understand the situation but unless the OP said she was at her mothers etc in her reply to him i cant say im surprised, i have sent texts at the wrong time before and misread the replies. We dont know his side of the story ... yes he should have stopped texting ... and yes the OP could have possibly blocked the number if able but comparing this to sexual assualt is stupid, Im thinking if it had been the other way round (something which I have also had) ie a woman txting a guy at the wrong time etc would you have made the same comment. No I'm Doubting you would. |

Totally agree with this! I am careful who gets my number, but they are also made aware of when I can't text back! So I will respond at a time when convenient for me |

...To be fair, "chat later" isn't exactly a clear cut "CAN'T talk right now. Please stop texting me".
People will interpret it differently and a male who's big head is currently losing the war for blood against his little head may have seen your response as being interested and wanting to talk about it specifically later...
I know it may sound stupid but some people need to be spoon-fed when it comes to these sort of things if you honestly can't just ignore your phone at the time. |

OP you have to be firmer with your expectations. If you don't want men texting then dont give your number out.
Two men that you've spoken about within the last week or so have text you and would not take heed when you informed them not to. I would say take care in what men you are choosing. There are many respectful men on this site who wouldn't dream of harassing.
There are some men who won't care if your sat with the pope, if they want to talk dirty and get their rocks off they will. You don't have to indulge them so tell them firmly.

"Your phone won't self destruct if you don't answer a text straight away you know
Gotta laugh at the pussy stabbing text though "
That made me lol. Peeps do seem to forget it's not absolutely life threatening not to read/reply immediately |

"cant turn my fone off in case my daughter phones me
he had the number ages ago
I don't give my number as much as I used to "
I can block numbers on my phone including texts, not just calls. |
