I ask this question, as I find that my brother is judged far too much and told it is a sick 'choice' to be gay.

There is an interesting documentary coming up Undercover doctor cure me I am Gay coming up channel 4 on this Tuesday worth a watch.

And no I think people are born gay x but then there is curiosity does that make you just curious or gay or bi x

Maybe if the lived in a differant country like Russia or Saudi Arabia they would be. Even in the US gay people are frowned upon..

Most gay people in the uk are lucky to live here, but you still hear of people who's parents have disowned them just because they are gay and god help them if their parents are strict Muslim's

its not a strange question. Read my previous posts. Some people still think it is only a choice. I have never believed this and just wondered if others had the same opinion as myself or the ones thinking its a choice.

Re-reading my answer comes across as a bit uppity, if so im sorry, didnt mean it to be.

Its just that i think you are what you are, your sexual orientation is part of you, and is influenced by your experiences as well, but mostly its how you accept what you are. Many people probably have bi-sexual or fantasies (outside of vanilla) but they supress them in order to conform to the norm.

From experience I strongly believe that the great majority of people have sexual fantasies varying from full BDSM to bisexuality and so on but suppress these urges through a variety of reasons, mostly down to a victorian prudishness common to this nation.

Sorry, that I disagree with. We all have strengths and weaknesses. We're not all born equal.

In terms of race, skin colour, eye colour, sexuality, gender etc. etc. we should all be equal.

However some people have a greater aptitude for academic study than others. They are better than others in an academic environment. Not better people, just more capable. Some people are more accomplished than others at sport. Others can entertain, or act...

This "we are all equal" line is causing a knee jerk thing of trying to eradicate competition in schools. Rather than identifying, encouraging and celebrating each person's strengths, we're trying to pretend we're all the same.

We're equally valuable as people, or should be so regarded, but we do all have different aptitudes, weaknesses and limitations. We shouldn't try to pretend otherwise.

Being equal in terms of rights and respect is different to being the same sort of person.

Everyone must be treated equally from the outset and only once their strengths and weaknesses are explored can they be treated differently to anyone else.

For instance, 2 people of different race walk towards you and say hello. You respond equally to them and strike up a conversation. You all get on welk and head to the pub. Whereupon you learn that one person won the Nobel Peace Prize for resolving the conflict in Kosovo in the 90s by putting his life on the line to save people. The other person has just come out of jail for robbing a pensioner in their home and bopping them on the head.

Now there is a chance you will treat them differently. The fact one had one colour of skin and the other had a different colour meant they started equally in your eyes. They suddenly became unequal when you learned one had done something tremendous and the other something dreadful. That is what you may judge someone on. Not their physical or mental attributes. But their actions.

I don't think my post disagreed with those sentiments.

However, sometimes the "we are all equal" banner is misunderstood, misapplied and does more harm than good. The easiest way to ensure nobody achieves more than anyone else is to ensure nobody achieves anything.

That's not good for humanity or society.

I was being silly. You said that the answer to when they became straight was the same as when you became gay. But if you are born straight/gay, you must obtain that during gestation in the womb. Thus it is not likely that your sexuality was defined at precisely the same time as each other.

I don't understand why you have asked this question when you, rightly say, being gay isn't a choice. Of course it isn't so why bring up the subject when it can give the homophobes a good excuse to get on their soap boxes or start offending homosexuals left right with their ridiculous ideas.

I also don't believe it is down to genetics. Genes determine things like hair colour or likelihood of developing diseases like cancer ie you inherited a faulty gene. Being gay isn't inherited if it were you would be very unlikely to have been born!!

No one actually picked up on your use of the word click. All that happened is the person who managed to decipher what could be forgiven as being seen as a random collection of words used the word but used the correct spelling. I fail entirely to see why they are being criticised and sarcy comments being made?
