Last night we treated ourselves to a Blu ray copy of Gravity. After all the hype, we were very disappointed. Visually superb, but the storyline was pretty non existent. Pretty lame, to be honest. When we chose a film, it was between this film and Captain Phillips. Should have gone with the latter !!

Just no atmosphere.

"I have heard that Tom Hanks plays a blinding role in captain phillips"

The silly thing is that we were told how good Captain Phillips is, and I have never been much of a George Clooney fan.To be honest, I don't think it would have mattered who had acted the characters. It would still have been a mediocre film. Its no reflection on Clooney or Ms Bulloch.

Sorry. That should be Bullock.

By today's standards it is a fairly short film, at around 90 minutes. In my opinion, it never really got going. Kind of ran out of storyline.

I saw the 3D version, and it was ok.

Captain Philips was much better though

We saw it at cinema in 3d and loved it but did think it wouldn't transfer to DVD so well reallyneeds the screen and 3d to be fully enjoyed

Also saw captain Philips that was fantastic but then I'm a huge Tom Hanks fan so I may be biased

Honestly I thought it was one if the best films I've seen in quite a while, though like Seven and Silence of the lambs it's a film that's best watched once because I don't think the plot (not the performances) would stand up to a second run through.

We don't have a 3D TV, but I am certain it would be great effects, but apart from the visual effects, the film did nothing for us. I was never a huge fan of 2001, having seen it as an 8 year old, in the west end, but there is no comparison. Love it or hate it, 2001 is a masterpiece in comparison.
