Mobile phone operators!

This week my son's PAYG phone died. Its with Three, so I tried to order a new one on their website. Four attempts, failed.

So I called, nope they can't sell a PAYG phone over the phone, online or store.

He also has £40 in credit, looked at EE, VF and O2 but there online is also rubbish.

Last year EE contract phone died, they showed no interest and finally the shop lost the phone. Only shouting on twitter caused them to find a resolution.

Anyone, who has tested the support services of their mobile operator had a good experience or are they all shite?

I have used orange for years and also have ee. They have always provided me with excellent service whenever I have needed to call.

Orange, Now EE are shite. Since changing to EE my signal is erratic to say the least. They wouldn't let me out of my contract and just offered me a booster, which is really helpful when I'm in the middle of a field.

They over charged me £10 and took 3 months and numerous phone calls to refund me. Also 2 months and dozens of calls to cancel a bundle then refund me.

Needless to say, when my contract is up I'll not stay with EE.

The mobile are very good customer service. Although they use EE network they do try to look after you and reward loyalty. Cheap decent deals.

I've got my daughters phone with talk mobile which is carphone warehouse's network and I can't fault them. If I ring or go into carphone warehouse with a problem they have been nothing but helpful

I've tried most of them but been with O2 for a few years and have no problems with them. They provide the best signal for where I live too.

I vowed never to use Orange again, after a very unpleasant incident. The rest of my family members who once used Orange, have now dropped them also. I don't take kindly to being called a liar, in front of a shop full of customers.

I detest orange and since it went ee I have to run around the house hanging out of windows for signals.

There sales teams are far more proactive than support. We have only had one support situation over a dodgy sim and that took 3 weeks to replace so it says a lot.

I was with 02 for many years 5+ never had any problems at all till about 6 months ago.

loss of signal very often

signal was full but couldn't call out or get incoming calls

messages took ages to come thru.

before you say I had tried my sim in more than one phone and it didn't change.

I opted to leave o2 once my contract was up and went with T-Mobile

T-Mobile are better however not perfect.

while on the phone to o2 I was also told that they had a lot of people saying the same problems as I have been getting.

Vodafone SIM only contract just expired and almost certainly moving to 3.

Vodafone, one of the two original SPs have lost the place totally, in Scotland at any rate. Believe it or not, and this is 100% true, for a period of 4 or 5 months last year, their local transmitter went 'down' every time we had heavy rain!! They're now promoting their 4G network and yet they've failed miserably to invest in their 3G network. Just 18 miles from the oil capital of Europe and I struggle to get a signal at all, yet they're wheeling and dealing in billions of pounds in other parts of the world. They've also missed a government set target re coverage.

So it looks as if 3 will be getting a new customer!

Thanks everyone.

Gif had is O2 really, seems O2 has great coverage. Not sure about in our house, need a O2 user to pop by.

Went with 3, seems they have good data connection.

Really impressed with Windows 8 mobile. I have Windows 7.5 and IOS 7.1 on iPhone and now my son a Windows x

Central

If you want to test a network before committing, get a pay as you go sim and use it for a bit. Id prefer that than pay good money on a long contract for poor service. Ive left vodafone after dire signal issues over a year. There is 1 network that charges 20 quid for a sim, and you then pay nothing more ever, and get 300 mins and texts, as well as some data each month for £0. So good for lowish users who dont want to get ripped off. If you dont need the best, most modern handset, then the no contract sim only deals are the way to go. I dont need new and shiny, unless it is something to dress in.

Get an o2 PAYG and order a giffgaff sim online (runs on o2 network). You buy a goodybag that lasts a month and you can set it to recur. Signal is great, lots of support online if problems arise and free texts and calls to other giffgaff numbers. £12 goodybag gives you unlimited texts, unlimited internet and 250 mins. An extra £3 (£15 goodybag) gives you unlimited internet, unlimited texts and 500 mins. Lots more goodybags to choose from, check them out.

If as you say there is:-

1/£40 credit on the phone.

2/Only the phone has died not the sim

3/You can't buy one on line

I would suggest buying a second hand mobile for £40 then at least you can use the £40 you say is on the sim that is the logical choice.

I have orange EE for work phone and hate it, signal constantly drops.

I have O2 for personal phone never had an issue.

My daughters phone is PAYG also on O2, ordered online and delivered next day, so no issue their either.

Ex partners phone PAYG on three, ordered online and delivered next day again no issue, so not sure why you were unable to order online

I have an ee phone and an orange iPad. I stupidly as I did not understand how it worked went over on my data usage with both last month when I was without Internet at home. Ee gave me another g thing for free and ee halved the bill of what I went over. Very impressed with both. I only ever seem to lose signal when I'm in the fridge section of a supermarket for some reason.
