"It's rubbish day tomorrow, so sorting out the recycling
Do you recycle anything or everything. Do you use 'bags for life' at shopping
I hope so

I don't use bags for life,I buy them and forget to take them with me!
I recycle what I have bins for the majority of the time,I take glass to the bottle banks and take what I can to the dump and separate it all for recycling there,I try not to throw away what im not meant to for landfill but im not perfect |

I live in a top floor flat with a teeny tiny kitchen, it's 2 flights of stairs and a walk out the back to the car park to put stuff in the recycling bins. I can't have stuff laying all around my kitchen till I get chance to take it downstairs. So I don't do the food waste bin.
I do keep a big bag in the hallway with empty milk cartons, cardboard etc in it that I run down every other day when my lads at nursery.
But anything else goes in the normal bin. |

Our recycling was being shipped to China creating a huge carbon footprint so I decided not to bother. As it's easier now with only 2 bins I do it just so the bin men don't leave my rubbish behind |

I'm mad for it. Separate all recycling. Use tip for stuff they don't collect at roadside. Got to do your bit. Society has become so wasteful in recent decades. |

We need to think of the future.
Plastic bags were the future forty years ago. "
That they probably were how times change!! |

And most of them will still be around in forty years time... |

I use bags for life. I reuse and recycle everything I can. I very rarely throw food away. I give all my old clothes to charity and do the doorstep thing. I am dismayed sometimes by what people chuck. Loads could go to charity. |

"I recycle, however, I was hoping this thread was in answer to the question of 'what do you think so far?'
"
That would be the yet to be started Waldorf and Statler thread..... |

Does anyone else get charged for carrier bags in the UK or is it just in Wales?
It costs us 5p a carrier or maybe up to 10p for a bag for life. Any point in that?
Charge 50p a bag and Im sure lazy shits like me will start taking bags back in with them rather than fill the carrier bag cupboard up |

I bought a great kitchen bin with 3 compartments - glass/tins/plastic bottles, veg/fruit/food waste. and general. I use a sturdy bag for paper and cardboard.
I recycle every single thing I can. Which means that I only throw out 1 or two plastic carrier bags of general rubbish - everything else is recycled. It is so easy!
And, of course, I take my own bags for shopping. I get carrier bags occasionally if I pick up a few bits but then I recycle them as bin liners.
I have to say though that the biodegradable bin liners for veggies are utterly useless - they break down or split so quickly - and I've ended up with peelings all over the floor. |
