Lowering our standards

In seems in this recession every guy that wants to meet us is doing it on the cheap ,

Now as a couple we like nice bars restaurants and hotels . We like to socialise with prospective single guys at least 2 times

So the question is do others on here feel they have to lower their standards to meet people

No, I employ a bit of give and take. If someone fancies a meet and they look ok, I'll suggest something and see how it works. If it doesn't I'll see what they suggest.

Suggest somewhere equidistant rather than close to me, or if I'm meeting someone who is on the TG scene, someplace we'd both be anyway, like BNO or LFF

Well surely u have to take into account that some people just cant afford the same things as you can.

Is it lowering ur standards ? Or

Is it compromising to meet not only ur desires/ wants/needs but the desires/wants /needs of the people you are meeting too

I don't really understand when people say they might have to lower their standards, in this hobby if you have standards its quite easy to stick to them by saying "no thank you" to the people who don't meet them.

We're not in our most comfortable period financially at the moment but we manage to have some pretty good social outings that don't cost a fortune, it isn't where you meet and what you drink it's who you meet to drink it with.

Just stick to swinging instead of meeting men on their own? That way you can find like minded couples who can pay their half. You won't get lumbered with poor people then either

We make it clear in our profile that we meet socially only first and in any messages we exchange, some men go quiet but most are happy to share a few drinks in a bar somewhere with us and we always (nearly) have a great time. I think you have been very unlucky

And that's once more than we would be ok with lol !

Hotels , drinks , food , that's all very nice for us to share with each other .

Would never dream of sharing all that with a prospective meet .

Don't get me wrong , each to their own , but if I was a single guy looking for a meet with a couple , I wouldn't want to entertain the wallet busting expense of 2 socials like this before getting a shag

i think its simple - if you want a fella to be able to pay his way at a nice hotel/foodie place and thats part of your criteria to meet someone - thats fine - each to their own - i just think a lot of people cant afford that lifestyle - we offer a lovely brew at our home and happy to pay our way at a coffee shop - more likely to go for a meal with people weve already made good friends with and meeting up with again

as for meeting in hotels and restaurants... I don't see why meeting in for example in a quiet pub would be seen as "lowering standards" after all, i assume you are using the social to get to know the person... does it matter the setting?

I've met people in starbucks for a coffee (a frap in my case)... i dont use the setting as some sort of fancy "dick swinging" exercise....

Even I wouldn't expect 2 social meets! And that is saying something lol

I normally take time before hand and normally know on the first meet if there is anything there, I don't need 2 meets!

And most of time I have an idea if play is on the cards, it's only the one's I was a bit unsure due to dodgy blurred pics that I insist on a social first, Maybe you just need to redefine your criteria of what you are looking for??? Two social meets is a bit excessive in my eyes x

We must be cheap dates, we wouldn't want to go to a fancy restaurant or a fancy wine bar with a potential meet, we are quite happy with a quick drink in a pub, and we only need one social meet to know if we want to go on and play.

The standard of the person(s)eclipses all the matching bath robes, underfloor heating and nicely mixed mojitos so if the person is worth it I don't perceive any standards have been lowered, the frills will soon fade in the memory, the thrills won't.

We'd never look for a meet based on background or finances so once we're at the point where we're arranging something we have a chat to establish what the other party is comfortable in terms of the type of meet and the location. That could be a wide range from a cozy boozer to a posh hotel or a Costa even.

If we want a night of fun in a nice hotel, we pay for the hotel.

I think what you say is fair enough. We like to go for a drink as well first off and from what I have gathered, most people on here do that too. I think it's common sense not to take a complete stranger back to your house. At least you can get to know them a bit by having a drink. If they can't afford it though. To bad for them I say. It's just one of those things. Don't worry about it. Not quite sure what you mean about standards being lowered. Most pubs charge about the same.

I'm the same, I earn next to nothing atm. I bought myself a coffee day then felt guilty cos u couldn't really afford. I agree with the person who said about living within ones means. Currently I couldn't afford a hotel meet, maybe some other time I would be able to. The most amazing person I ever met on here was always skint, we never did anything fancy but always had a wonderful time because at the end of the day, it's the company that makes it.

"Your meeting them for sex not to start a new relationship for a husband if you don't click straight away there not for you

Exactly we are meeting them for sex. Not to have another dependant or freeloader to pay for

we've never met a single man who wanted us to pay for him they have always been happy to pay their way. In fact we often feel that they get the raw end of the deal as there are two of us and only one of them.

How would they lose out if your all paying your own way?

because if they buy a round they're buying for two other people, if we buy a round we're buying for one other person "

But surely 3 people is three rounds,

"In seems in this recession every guy that wants to meet us is doing it on the cheap ,

Now as a couple we like nice bars restaurants and hotels . We like to socialise with prospective single guys at least 2 times

So the question is do others on here feel they have to lower their standards to meet people

"

And this is exactly why we must meet

Ok 3 points...

meeting twice?- nope, I have better things to do with my time, other meets to arrange, than go for two social meets.sorry, no hoop jumping from me.

I'm sure there are plenty of men with 'meet' status's that dont include too much cyber verifies.

not profile critiquing.. but the profile does sound a bit male written, it would lead me to believe most of my conversations before I even get to a meet will be with the male half..I might even want a vocal chat with the female half............I'd hope that wouldnt be assumed I want a wankchat.

In London, it doesn't really take much for 3 nights out and a hotel stay to exceed £300.

Arse End of the Universe, Cumbria

I've never had anyone ask to meet in a car park I don't think...My first social meets are all either in my local in Arse End (if it's 25 miles or less for the guy to travel) or I'm happy to drive a max of half hour either north or south to a pub if they're within an hour...I've turned down many offers of "I'll come to you, it's only 100 miles" as I would not want to feel obligated cos someone had driven 2 hours...however, anyone who gets invited to Arse End from further away than 25 miles is pretty much guaranteed a shag or three

I'm not earning at all ATM so any sort of meet is going to be difficult

Living in the middle of nowhere a 100 mile round trip is the norm. That costs enough on its own I usually only do social meets in a coffee bar when I'm already heading that direction. I've even been known to have a social in ikea using the family card free for free coffee

I've also met in car parks to take a walk along the beach, no big deal. Can chat and flirt just as well walking as you can across a table

Depends on what you're classing as a social...a coffee or a drink in a pub somewhere then fine, but a full on meal and night out is something my budget just wouldn't stretch to...I often have to turn down nights out with friends because of finances so not a chance I'd be able to splurge on 2 socials to even be considered for play. I do think 2 socials is a bit much, but I don't always bother with a social to be honest (unless you count a brew before play!).

However if someone is suggesting a car park or layby then I'd simply pass them by and look for the next willing victim as I'm not looking for a quick grope in a car, so I guess that's me not lowering my standards. Suppose it depends on your standards and whether they are reasonable or just demands for someone to jump through hoops...if you are asking to be wined and dined though on 2 nights out then chances are you are going to have to look harder for meets as we're not all as financial secure as you may be

Not really the replies have actually been an eye opener

As we Are looking for a long term arrangement with a proper single guy to include nights out etc etc which is what we want.

We are going to stick to our guns and only meet single guys on nights out if we find a guy that we like we will let them know where w will be if they turn up they do if they don't they obviously were not for us .

I definitely don't think we should lower our standards and meet single guys first time at a our home or hotels or even car parks for safety reasons no matter what they say about costs

I've met socially more than once before playing and was happy to do so. The first was coffee in Cafe Nero the second dinner in a local Italian restaurant.

My meet declined my offer to go Dutch. I think my meet was wise in requesting two meets. Whilst he obviously liked me and was excited at what I had planned for him he was going to come into my home where he would be restrained, blindfolded and hung from hooks by a woman twice his size who enjoyed extreme bdsm play. You need to feel comfortable with who you're meeting.

I've yet to meet anyone who suggested car parks!

Plus, I only meet people who can accommodate too so it's not all on me.

The phrase "lowering your standards" is like red rag to a bull, some people think you mean that they personally aren't good enough. What you do mean I think is that you won't compromise the way you play and I agree that you shouldn't, we won't and get fewer meets because of it. Compromise isn't going to work in this sort of activity so stick to your guns I say.

Perhaps the terminology is the issue here ?

When you say 'lowering your standards' , there is an immediate knee jerk reaction , and the essence if your desire is the quality of surroundings and affluence more than standards of a person .

We won't have anyone to our house , nor meet in a car park , so in some ways we are more fussy than you !

But that's our circumstances ( kids at home ) , but we will happily meet at a coffee shop or a pub first to ascertain suitability for all 3 of us .

You have received a fair amount of criticism for your way of choosing , primarily as most people can't see why money has to be a factor .

But it's a part of your selection process , and you are entitled to have fun with whoever you like .

For most of us , your way is not for us , and comes across somewhat pompous . But that doesn't mean it's wrong , so good luck to you both

"I don't really understand when people say they might have to lower their standards, in this hobby if you have standards its quite easy to stick to them by saying "no thank you" to the people who don't meet them.

We're not in our most comfortable period financially at the moment but we manage to have some pretty good social outings that don't cost a fortune, it isn't where you meet and what you drink it's who you meet to drink it with. "
