So we have finally got a car and the only way to insure it without spending £££££ was to get the box, does anybody else have it and is it any good in bringing your premiums down?

I had an insurance quote for my new car and one of them said I needed one ( I've been driving 21yrs and have over 9yrs ncd!), sadly for them they were one if the most expensive quotes anyway!

My daughter's friend has one. It limits his speed to 70mph (more dangerous in my opinion) and also sends information back to the insurance company, I think there is also a curfew and if he tries to drive between 23:00 and 05:30 his insurers are notified as he's essentially driving with no cover!

Halesowen

You can get a gps blocker for about £30, it stops the black box communicating with the system. It will prob also block your phone too.

Ha ha Paula had to have one in her car,

The ammount of money she spends on fuel and tyres has gone right down lol

All my company cars have them with satellite tracking, and email notification if speed limits are ignored . Not done through insurance but get a discount because of it

If as an over 25 you decide to get one are you bound to it forever? I have a feeling that everyones going to end up with one eventually or you'll never get insurance

I believe they are a way for your Insurance company to find new ways of telling you that your policy doesn't cover you when you make a claim.

They did a trial for dvla , and it was unsuitable to implement,

But this year we get to pay our road tax by direct debit and don't have to put tax disc in window anymore

I am under 25 never had insurance before only had licence for almost a year. The company said if the system shows your a good driver your premiums come down. We wouldn't be driving crazy anyway as the only times the car would move is when the kids are in the car so fingers crosses it'll work out quite good for us
