It can annoy me too. It just comes across as insincere, desperate or overly PC to me usually.
It certainly never makes me want to shag anyone more and could well put me off.
That said, I try to take genuine compliments and efforts to give me a more positive perspective of myself graciously. I may not believe them but I try not to be dismissive.
Sometimes telling the difference between the two is difficult though. Are they saying it because they mean it or because they think it will give them a greater chance of getting into my/someone else's knickers? |

I see your point.
Most of those guys haven't posted a thread saying they feel bad about themselves though.
That's where I consider White Knights to exist. The ones who try to use a perceived or actual weakness in someone else's confidence to ingratiate themselves.
Men seem to try to show their weaknesses less than women, in general. At least, it appears that way to me. And the ones who do show a lack of confidence are not the ones that women will want to suck up to. Sometimes that's simply by virtue of the fact they are presenting as lacking confidence.
I'm guilty of sucking up to blokes in here sometimes and  but it's rarely done seriously. Well, not very seriously! |

If 'white knighting' bothers you ask yourself why.
Firstly - We can never know another's reason for doing what they do. We second guess, we use experience to a point and also we bring our own strengths , weaknesses and fears into the analysis.
We also tend to point out in others what we do not like in ourselves.
Secondly - It's not confined to males and of all those m that flatter, be they male or female , a certain number will be sincere rather than malicious or aware.
To label them all as 'white knights' simply in search of a 'shag' or as 'fawning females' seeking 'adoration' is being a little 'too concerned' about 'relationships' in here.
Leave the undeniably needy to find each other. If indeed they do exist. |

I said it bothers me, its just an expression of words I use. it doesn't mean that I am running around in a distressed state or my life is severely affected by it.

I don't think anyone wants to add to the insecurities of another .
I was the opposite of a White knight until a month or so ago , and tended to just be honest .
This led to me going over previous posts , and realising I had been unnecessarily harsh , so I chose to not comment at all if my comments were hurtful .
Examples may have been when someone asked about their profile , why couldn't they get meets , kiss, fuck , avoid , do you like larger women etc.....
I came very close to breaking my rule yesterday when someone asked if anyone woukd like to see her strip off on a BBW thread , but resisted .
And this , I guess , is what happens on an open forum . Some will always come across as sycophantic , others as trolls , and some genuinely try to be helpful and share their thoughts in a positive way .
The White knights are simply trying their luck in a desperate way , to get a shag . Some will succeed and others won't , but it won't stop .

Being realistic and honest about oneself helps.
When I get a message about how gorgeous and absolutely amazing I am and the most beautiful creation of womanhood that ever walked the earth, my git radar is alerted. I'm a mid 40s overweight woman who has an attractive ish face and a sharp mind, but Im no Elle McPhereson, so the message will register in my brain as being bollox.
For me the most cringy example are the guys who turn against other single guys with the old 'I can't believe what some women have to put up with, some of the messages are abusive, come on guys show these ladies some respect' which leaves those naive women among us think 'ah what a nice guy, in touch with his feminine side when its just another approach to get his end away.

That type of behavior doesn't bother me in itself and clearly it does make a positive impression for some women as evidenced by some giving flirtatious responses.
I find it a little uncomfortable when a women attacks a single guy often without merit and this behaviour is then adopted in some kind of 'gang mentality'. Apart from this, I couldn't care less how other guys choose to interact with women on here, or whether their motives are honorable.

It depends on the subject. Men are rarely the subject of threads criticising or judging how they look. And those that are started have male OPs usually.
Women are faced with comments and judgement on how we look and how we should look on a daily basis. Several times a day often.

Just thought I would bump this thread rather than starting a new one on the same subject.
As the nights are drawing in, it appears that the Chancers in Tin Foil are more prolific recently. Or it could just be me being oversensitive.
My instinct is saying don't feed the trolls, but sometimes you see men and women posting comments that Forum Insurance just wouldn't cover.
Once the poster has sufficient support from the Knights it switches to "it's only my opinion ffs", almost like a self justification.
Maybe I just need to lie down in a darkened room for a while... |
