Righty I'm about 76kg and as advertised 5'6".
Despite having a balanced diet, low sugar and training 3 times a week, then alternating days doing outdoor interval training I can never seem to get good tone.
I'm not aiming for a crack addict body but these last few kgs are a nightmare to shift.
Any genuine advice? |

Start of with doing deadlifts, it builds the mass you want, then yes do some bicep curlz and eat about 200g protein aday to see some good reuslts and keep carbs low to get the 6packs. |

Personally I find dieting beats exercise when it comes to losing weight (though ideally a balance of both is best). They say cutting out certain food groups and what not can help a person burn fat faster, but personally I've found that non complicated diets work best for me, I simply eat less of whatever I was eating all along, and the fat loss takes care of itself. |

Thanks - fab has it's uses!
Basically I always try to do some cardio as a warm up and get sweaty, then try to keep carbs to a reasonably low level, not much sugar as I still get guilty from a can of full fat .
I vary gym routine but do 10 tricep dips, 10 pull ups with biceps, 10 dips again, 10 shoulder pull ups, 10 dips again then hols a pull up whilst doing 10 leg lifts for stomach.
I try and not stick to a set routine so as not to get bored

Honestly without knowing where you are in your training life ? What you already know , your current eating habits , and what percentage fat you might be , giving specific advice is difficult x
Be careful what you wish for though , I advise health over vanity , again I will reiterate those of us that can and do do it do it with knowledge we understand , you need to know your body intimately especially how it feels when incorrectly nurrished and or over worked . The balance line for many other than geneticly gifted is slim . That's not saying you need to be only it requires more understanding from you . Please note what works for me or any other here may either not work or be harmful to you x |

I've started my exercise regime by reading my mens health magazine on the sofa. My gym membership has run out. I need an exercise buddy. I'm not self motivated. Lots of low level negativity in this respect. |

"Maybe you are putting on more muscle, but don't realise it."
I have noticed that I have quite a lot of strength for my size, eg some guys in the gym can'y do a few pull ups but to me it's quite easy to do lots. |

I'm not totally ignorant but not into all of the finer detail, it'd be easier to say 10% fitter cardio wise, and 10% leaner.
Not much but just THAT bit better. I have no intention of building my body beyond what I have. |

I wouldn't worry about your weight if your happy in your size and you feel good just keep doing what your doing and enjoy it. I go to the gym 4 times a week and run and play football but I know I will never have a six pack as I like going out drinking and eating all foods but I know am fit and healthy |

"How many chin ups can you do ?
I've never managed more than 12."
Your a big chap to be fair I find pull ups fairly easy I can do 3 sets wide grip and then 3 sets inside close grip 10 in each set but I can only bench 30k each side plus the bar doing 3 sets |

I'm not, I'm just 12 stone, but I notice now that he asked CHIN ups (palms facing toward you), and my 12 reps are done PULL up style with a wider grip and palms facing away, I don't do chin ups anymore though so wouldn't know my reps. |

At 5 11 that's a good standard
X
I was not looking for egos just a bench mark of your possible muscle mass for your weight , 10 reps is OK but not fantastic knowing your height depending on the muscularity of your legs . good form is good to hear though. |

Sorry man you look bigger in the pic I can see I just do the pull up as I like to think they help me stretch out a bit wide grip is a lot harder I find but the more you do them the easier they are like everything I suppose |

Are you sure ?
Good chance your are based on certain research but then intermittent fasting has been illustrated to work , but then so is your daily call intake divided by 7 shown to work
Eating 560 call of carb after 6 will certainly add fat but eating 230 call of casein protein after 10 pm will preserve muscle mass xx |

Haha this is hillarious. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another.
You could speak to 50 different trainers who'll preach 50 different things. You need to find what works for you.
Very difficult - but if you do some research and try new things you'll get there xx |

My understanding is that you can do more weight/reps with a Chin Up because by having your arms fairly close together with your palms facing toward you, you get lots of bicep involvement(some trainers recommend using it as a curl alternative for this reason) aswell as using your lats, meaning you have more muscle to lift yourself with, turning your palms away into a Pull Up position however is said to place far more emphasis on the lats. |

I started running last year & went down from 12.5 stone to 10.5 in a few months. If u keep to it, it's like s blowtorch to fat. |

Losing weight is simple maths, burn more calories that you consume.
Like others have said though don't get hung up on weight because you may be adding muscle etc
You can get those professional body fat things done or just look at yourself in the mirror for results.
Keep up a good clean diet and the training and you're spot on |

"Seems there's an optimum for everyone
"
Genuine advice...WORK LEGS!
People don't usually realise that your legs are the largest muscle group in your body! Working these not only increases heart rate but also releases growth hormone into your body; insuring the work you do all over has better repair and greater visual effect.
Start looking into HIIT (high intensity interval training) I like to do curcuits/countdowns. start at 10squats and 10pushups (throw your pull ups in there if you wish) then complete as quick as possible with good form, continue to countdown to 1 (9squats, 9 push ups, 8 squats, 8 push ups etc) take a 2 minute break or something then go again! You will be dropping puppy fat before you know it with HIIT (look into both gym and sprints) for an extra toned stomach back sure you pull your belly button in and hold your core tight when doing weights!
quite an essay but hope I gave some direction. Peace |
