Can I keep my number? If so does it take a while to change over? I really don't want a new number after all these years!! X "
Buy it from a shop and get your number ported , they can do it while your in there |

Don't you have to ask for a code or something? My number has always came with me whenever I have changed my mobile, but the network company have always sorted it out for me  |

Just call your existing network provider and ask them for a PAC code. Thats a code you give to your new provider as you join them in order to carruy your old number over.
Your new network will give you a new sim & number for 24/48 hrs. Once the 24/48 hrs has passed your new number will change to your old number.
Nothing more than that really. |

i just done it again.
as said, you need to phone who your with now and ask for a pac code, you give the pac code to your new provider and they sort it out, you will start with a new number as it takes 2/3 working days before your old number comes back to your phone.
when you ask for your pac code, it also cancels your old contract and you get 30 days to transfer your number, if you dont do it within the 30 days, your number is lost |

I'm sorry folks, but unless things have changed recently then some people here are wrong.
I've changed SP several times over the years and have never lost the use of my number, even temporarily.
You simply ask your current SP for a PAC code, which you then give to your new SP, and they do the rest. At the most, you might lose service for maybe an hour when the actual changeover happens, but that's all.
Also, having got your PAC code, you don't have to do anything with it. It will expire in 30 days time and if you do nothing with it, you'll simply carry on as normal with your existing SP. |
