Yes. If, for example, a screw comes loose on a hinge on a kitchen cabinet door I not only fix it, I tighten all the others at the same time.

Somewhere in North Norfolk

Yes I fix things when they need fixing, if it's within my capacity to do so.

I also make and modify things to better suit my needs.

I recently bought a shoe rack to modify to fit a specific space. It was being sold locally for less than the wood would have cost.

Sometimes I tinker but that's usually with computer related stuff.

Trained as a mechanical engineer so will always have a go at fixing stuff before ditching it or paying someone to fix it. Half the time nowadays by the time you pay someone to fix something you might as well ditch it and buy new.

As a general rule - no - I usually bugger it up. Then it costs me more to get fixed or put right. Might as well just pay for repair in the first place.

If bob can fix wendy then he may as well tinker with our driers...he can bring wendy to assist with his toolbox when he has to perform

We've got a great guy for domestic appliances.

The first job was our washer, he did he told us it would either be £10 or £100+.

He took it to his shop, fetched it back the next day and said "Good news £10!".

We thought 'you'll do for us!', he could so easily have charged more.

We use him all the time now and recommend him to our friends too.

I could fix them, but unfortunately I'm not that sexy, so they'll stay broke
