Any swelling around eyes or face straight to Doc.

"Stop using Sudafed it dries out the mucas and makes it worse, paracetamol and sniff up hot steam, go to Dr,s and get amoxicillin, hope this helps"
Thanks for the heads up on the Sudafed a mate text me saying I should inhale a mint oil....so I looked in the old medicine cupboard and found olbas oil and didn't realize I could inhale it, I always used it for sore muscles...gonna try that with steam later before bed. |

Take an anti inflammatory pain killer - it should reduce the inflammation. Menthol crystals, possibly with some eucalyptus extract, dissolved in hot water and steam yourself over that. You can also suck up some saline solution up your nostrils, which will absorb mucous and relieve the blocked feeling. Ive answered many an out of hours call to help others. Ok, we dont all have these things at home, but they are worth keeping in. Using decogestants will result in rebound congestion, which means it returns, so they are better if avoided and use something natural. Only take antibiotics if completely necessary, as they are widely over-used and this is very dangerous. |

Menthol crystals are good, I have snorted sea water before scuba diving before to clear sinuses, it worked, but it wasn't pleasant. |

Not just sudafed, any of the chemical remedies all do the same. I've had this off n on for years, I have a deviated n enlarged septum. Menthol, eucalyptus oil (not extract as this has been chemically altered n not as effective), lavender and neroli oils will all help. Esp if u use the oils in a steam inhalation. Also earl grey tea is curative AND preventive. Hth |

If you have a PA, resist the urge, do not go into the welders shop next door. If you have the non-removable PA, they rip condoms and cause severe dental problems.
Not to mention the medical warnings we have seen on here. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |
