Do I or don't I??
Jump to: Newest in thread
Right people I have a bit of a dilemma, about a week or maybe 2 weeks ago I have a female customer come in to where I work and picked up a collection, that she had placed over our website.
Literally about 3 hrs later she was back returning one of the items (a tile cutter), she said that she couldn't work out how to set it up. She I refunded it and offered her another tile cutter. I suggested that before she buys it I would get it out of stock first, just so she could she how difficult it was to set up. She agreed and so off I went to get the item.
I came out with the item and opened up the box. Got it all out and she said it looked too difficult. So as a gentleman I offered to set it up for her. We NEVER do this for people as we're not meant to. She said she would love me forever. Yeah yeah heard it all before. The flirting was going well too, didn't want to over step the mark as she might complain.
I must add that the flirting started when she came in and the first words from her was "just need a quickie". So that's how the flirting started. So there I am setting up this tile cutter and she keeps touching me, my arm and keeps holding my hand as im putting it together for her. So just to test the water I ask why didn't her partner sort it out for her? I asked if he was at work. To which her reply was no I haven't got a partner.
Game on!! Now I know she is single. So the flirting is getting ruder by this point. She asks if I have a gf and I tell her im also single. Then I finish putting it together and grabs my hands and holds them firmly and says thank you so much I love you for doing that for me, I wish there was some way I could thank you. A few suggestions came straight into my mind, but I had to be professional about it lol.
She has been in since and every time she comes in I manage to always serve her and she keeps touching me and keeps thanking me. It looks like she is interested but I can't give her my number due to our rules and can't get her number off her records from off our computers.
Unless im reading into it but does anyone think she is coming on to me and is interested? The question is do I sneakily get her details and message her or do I just leave it? |

Do not get her details off the work system. U would be fired straight away for it. Just ask her quietly if she would like to meet up for a drink sometime and say I shouldn't really ask as I'm at work but couldn't help it. |

Immediate dismissal , she could complain go to the police and make you out to be a weird stalker after all she is just flirting to get a bit of discount.
And anyway just because a woman is friendly doesn't mean she wants sex with you .
Work is work, when you are at work your are expected to not have sex with customers .
My suggestion is next time she comes in get someone else to serve her, stating you are going on a break or dealing with a phone customer.
If she was really interested she would wait outside work for when you finish , other than that she is after discount etc etc ..
It mays surprise you that some women do flirt just to get a bit of discount , as do some men |

I did say that I might be reading into it. Yeah she could well be, but no discount was given. Tbh I think I'm reading too much into it but I think next time I'll try the drink scenario and see where it goes. |

"Didn't think about the drink scenario, thanks people "
Ask her quietly with nothing written down. If it all goes Pete tong, deny all knowledge.
Your word against hers. Very much doubt somebody single is going to go report you to management for politely inviting them for a drink though. |

I'd certainly not risk your job over it. Like many women she'll use tactics to get what she wants ie she got the tile setter sorted for her! Hell I've spent the last year flirting with the gateman at work cos he then lets me into the compound to park when he shouldn't have done but am I interested in him not a chance!! |

If you worked for me and I found out immediate dismissal .
I beleive it gets upheld at unfair dismissal tribunal as well |

try this:
"...and how has ur week been?(listen) great!!!!, well..its nearly the weekend, I was thinking of doing something nice, few drinks and laughs etc, any plans yourself?"
check response: wet patch
check response: quivering moistened lips
check response: blushing
check response: dilated pupils
check response: increased booby breathing increase
check response: the 'look back look' when she leaves
*so If u havent asked her out by now, the next time she comes in...spark up conversation about that weekend...see what she comes up with , then maybe and its pretty harmless to give a compliment and to say "I'd be up for a drink if you ever wanted"
if all that fails of course...I think she wants it over the photocopier anyway

I'd be bloody ashamed of myself having to ask a man to do things like that for me. At the absolute most I'd ask someone to show me how to do it so I could do it myself in future.
Then again, I wouldn't flirt for a discount, I'd just ask if they could do a better price. If I flirt, it's because I like someone. It's never a means to an end. |

i think you can see what you want to see in any situation.
i told the woman at the snack van today, she could chuck my sausage and meat between her baps if she wanted, she giggled, doesnt mean she was interested.
up to you.
you already know the answer and the outcome.
a quick shag followed by a while on the dole queue. |

Hi everyone, just an update. She came back in today to buy some new cutting discs for the tile cutter.
I had considered what I was going to do and decided against pursuing things any further, but today she explains that she went in last week. Due to me not being there she waited and came back this week just to see me.
Last week when she came in and had seen I wasn't about she asked if I was there and was told I'd be in monday. So instead of being served by one of my colleagues she left and came back today. She explained all this to me today. As once again she was very touchy feely. When I had served her and went to get the new tile disc and came back she wasn't stood at the collection point and was stood near the door and I walked over to her and gave her the disc. She grabbed me arm and pulled me back and kissed me and then told me she wants to know what shifts im working this week as she wants to come back to give me something.
Do I still leave it or do I see where thing's go? |

if it is going to cost your job, its not worth it.
however, if she is happy to keep it away from your place of work, i cant see the company having any problem with what you do in your private life.
i would think you would already be fucked workwise if anyone saw what happened by the door |

Professional integrity? It's not exactly a position of power.......selling DIY products?!?
If this was a lawyer/client or dr/patient scenario I could understand the issue but I don't see one here........and not to split hairs but not all jobs are a 'profession' |

Shouldn't need new discs already. Ive had one 4 years and tiled the bathroom, utility and downstairs toilet,in that time.
All with the original disc.
You're gonna end up watchdog. |

Personally I think there are a lot of overly serious posts here.
For goodness sake, its just some harmless fun. She is obviously flirting with you! Whether she intends anything by it is another matter....
There are many ways to skin a cat without risking your job! Get creative!
I have a profession in which it would be HIGHLY frowned upon to be seen flirting with the public..to the point I would lose my job without question (cant say too much here!) BUT if I like someone and they are making it obvious they like me, then...I have been known to find ways around the situation without jeopardising my career......
Drop hints where you hang out re bars, gyms, etc...and when! Its just making conversation. ....no one can be sacked for that. ..and its not your fault if one day she happens to turn up in the same bar as you one day at the same time is it????? |
