My very good friend is moving back to Canada. She has wanted to go back for a long time but now it's really happening in a few weeks and even though I should be happy for her and her family, I'm selfishly gutted for me and my eldest son. They are both seven, the best of friends, they have grown up together and now they're being separated. I know that they can stay in touch via letters/email and skype, modern technology is great it that respect but he's still going to miss him.
So even though I know its been coming for a while, today was the first time I let myself get really upset, I was putting together a photobook on vistaprint of lots of photos of the two boys growing up together, then I ordered a card on moonpig for my friend with a collage of pics of us together on the front. Worse thing is even though I was so upset I couldnt find the words to put in the card
I feel so bad for being upset when I should be happy for her |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
You are happy for her but that doesn't mean you can't be sad for you and your son.
One of my closest friends moved back to the USA nearly 20 years ago. We don't keep in touch as we once did but when we do it's from exactly at the point we left off.
The boys will find their way too.
