....... Kashmir - Led Zeppelin

I'm pleased that I'm from a generation who grew up listening to music on vinyl, through a large set of speakers and a good hi-fi system, like I still do......
........Not something you can fit in your pocket, spend most time listening to it on headphones, and only plug into a set of crap, tiny, transistorised sounding speakers! |

"I'm still undergoing therapy from my daughter's Slip Knot days so it works both ways! "
I can see why you'd need the therapy too.
No drug induced poetry put to an eclectic jazz based soundtrack, is surely good for an impressionable young lad. |

Kashmir has been used on quite a few programmes over the years.
My DAB radio alarm is also on Planet Rock ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

Our youngest daughter recently laid claim to my CD and Vinyl collection when I cark it.
She did have the decency to say that she wouldn't be able to listen to most of it though as she loves the same music as me and it would all remind her too much of me!
She was listening to Porcupine Tree, Nick Cave and The Pogues amongst others, from pretty much the day she was born!
None of her friends allow her iTunes playlist anywhere near a party, bless her ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

did you have any coloured vinyl records? I think Blondie had a green one, or it might have been Sex Pistols |

Oh yes! And still have! A lot of modern releases (ie, Amy Winehouse's few single releases, and some Lily Allen picture discs) were on coloured vinyl, but I've still got the punk records I bought when they were first released. Got "Picture This" by Blondie on yellow vinyl, an American Stranglers EP on pink vinyl, and the Police's first three singles on blue and green. Quite a few others still in my collection as well. |

Got a purple vinyl Deep Purple album, a red vinyl Sammy Hagar album, a blue vinyl ELO album, a brown vinyl Wildhearts single ('Greetings from Shitsville'), a couple of rare Guns and Roses picture discs that I should have sold at the height of their fame when they were worth a lot more than they are now...God knows what else is in the depths of the vinyl collection!
Just remembered...a Jane's Addiction album with a ribbed rubber sleeve! ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

The bollocks that is chart music makes me cringe, as it did my parents and my daughter is now going through the same thing with her children.
Luckily, they are surrounded by cool adults who bombard them with our own crap. The current favourite CD for the 9 year old is The Monkees and in the car they have to suffer anything from Strauss to Streisand, with a bit of Rufus Wainwright and a touch of Watersons thrown in. |

"I've just treated my 11 yr old to a loud session of the Doors.
Riders on the Storm and The End in full.
I will turn him to the dark side. "
What's dark about the Doors? That's practically easy listening. |

Nothing dark at all. Hopefully, he'll now 'break on through to the other side'! |

"I'm still undergoing therapy from my daughter's Slip Knot days so it works both ways!
Nothing wrong with Slipknot!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I grew up on Pat Boone and Jim Reeves. Teddy Prendegast, Luther Vandross et al are my artists of choice. A child of mine who was a goth, into the likes of Slip Knot was traumatic for me.
Now she's a God botherer and doing my head in with Gregorian chants and gospel music!
Come back Slip Knot all is forgiven! ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |
