I heard we could be under a new cold war as russia and ukraine are getting at it, what would it mean for us, would we hear the sirens once a month again like in the 80's?. |

i think cold war, take 2 is really probably the worst case scenario, here. Putin isn't likely to back down. how far the u.s. and uk take it, though, will largely depend on domestic support and both countries are very war weary following the conflicts of the last decade. |

I just went and read about it for the first time - he will split Ukraine in half as some speak Russian and some don't. Yeah I know its more complex than that but I understand what its all about now.

Those of us who lived through the Cold War of the '60's remember just how frightening it was, and how very, very close we actually came to total annihilation...
As kids we were taught to hid under tables, or the stairs, or whatever - but it wouldn't have helped, we would have all died...
And it was all very real, and it all started the same way...

I heard the sirens once during the eighties. It was early in the morning before getting up for school. I must have been half asleep, as I wasn't really bothered by it. For most of my childhood I was petrified that world war 3 was going to start. |
