Feel free to ignore.

I will start off by saying ive had a cold for just about 2 weeks now and im feeling run down so its probably why i am irritable..

My work place called me up yesterday to inform me that im working all day today saturday and sunday..

I called them early last week with regards to my return to work and to check my rota. Id also reduced my hours (wrote that in a letter few weeks prior) and was agreed by the manager...

So to be told im doing more hours on different days with no notice and no way of getting childcare im slightly bloomin miffed... arghhhhh!!!

Have you explained why you reduced your hours and why you feel it's an unreasonable request? They also shouldn't alter your rota without checking with you first.

Yeah i changed my contracted hours almost 3 weeks ago and was agreed. To drop from 36 to 24.

I thought it was unreasonable they changed my rota. They know im a single mum who relies on nursery so to call me up yesterday saying im working today (no time to get childcare) i was miffed..

I'd have told them that their request was unreasonable and that you couldn't arrange childcare in time.

Tell them you'd love to help them out but that it is impossible.

You have rights. Check them out on the gov.co.uk website.

They did the same to my cousin...

She took her child to head office, complete with food and nappy bag and left to go to work before they could object....

They called her out of work, an hour later....

Surprisingly, they've never mixed her schedules up since....

Sounds like they need to start using a rolling rota system. Most care homes round here use it and it's highly successful and has reduced absences too.

Surely if you reduce your hours by 50% then it goes without saying that your rota is going to change?

Yes but she reduced her hours 3 weeks ago and they only completed/changed the rota on Friday, it should have been taken into account really.

I agree when I did shift work in a homeless hostel we used to get our rolling rotas for 3 months ahead...

Changed my hours weeks ago.

Called up on Wednesday to find out what i was working this week to be told Wed &Fri. Arranged with nursery.. all good.

Was phoned yesterday by work to say that i was down for Today, Sat and Sunday.

Called this morning to my manager who said he only did the rota Friday so i couldnt have been told Wed & Fri... yet he was the one i spoke to last Wed and said id return on Wed & Fri..
