Should he keep his job or not ?
As a leader if I headbutted someone in my place of work I would probably be fired immediately. Whats other peoples thoughts ? |

I have defended Alan Pardew all if this season, when everyone else was demanding him to be sacked, but after yesterdays incident enough is enough and and should have been sacked when the final whistle went. Now some may say it was a heat of the moment action, how ever as a manager you have to know better and I'm sorry but what's a 100k to him, think he will be gone in the summer though |

And this is a perfect case of why it should and why the sport really needs to get it's house in order |

Should he keep his job? No because it's not the first offence and the intent was there. It did seem that people over exaggerated over what he done. However the player was right to respond the way he did because of the intent. |

Personally, I think he should lose his job - It's a massive shame because he is a good manager but I agree with the points the pundits made last night. If your manager is headbutting opposition players... how are you supposed to respect him and follow his orders? (Apart from for fear of a headbutt lol!)
I'm surprised he's only been fined but I think if the controversy gets any worse (we're still waiting for the FA investigation's results) - Mike Ashley will be forced to sack him/he'll be forced to resign... |

I'm sorry.... But obviously he has spent long enough in Newcastle..... You's lot outside call it a "head butt" but in Newcastle it's known as a "Geordie Kiss" .... He was being nice I thought ..... He wanted to "kiss" him ..... What's wrong? Thought football was such a "man's" sport! ...... They get paid enough.... the man was having a bad day.... Hasn't he won premiership manager a few times? Isn't this out of character for him? Wrong what he done..... But bit harsh to sack him |

A good manager leads by example. So is he suggesting that his players start headbutting the opposiion,,, , should be sacked and banned from all grounds in the country. As i am sure thats what would happen to a supporter |

If Ashley wanted a reason to get rid of him, this would have finally have been the one and would have got him out of the silly 6yr contract he gave him....
I dont see how he could stay on... |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Is this a manager doing this head butting of an opposition player off the field of play?
That's assault so how are the police not involved? Has pressure been put on the player to not report it as assault? If the same thing had happened in just about any other professional, social or public sphere this would be a criminal matter.

he does seem to have temper issues! |

Something happened like that in Italy a couple of years ago when the manager assaulted his own player, he was sacked on the spot. How can he keep his job. Just madness, i think the FA will take him to task quickly ! |

They won't have to pay him a penny as i'm sure in his contract will be clauses stating gross misconduct.

"That is the problem, his contract, will cost him a fortune to sack"
I am sure there would be a clause in his contract over "gross misconduct"....
if this isnt that.. I don't know would would be....
i wouldn't be surprised to see a "double digit" touchline ban coming.... |

Indeed and he is VERY lucky not to be sacked - but we dont know what his contract says in regard to severance payments.
I have seen several contracts with a severance payment on any termination of employment, regardless of the reasons! |

Surely if he gets the sack for this. Newcastle don't have to pay him anything as it's violent conduct at the end of the day. Which is instant dismissal in any other workplace. I think celebrities have it easy when t comes to the law. One rule for us. One rule for them. |

That's exactly it... He does appear to have difficulties avoiding crossing the line in the heat of the moment and in addition to the pecuniary punishment and lengthy ban he ought to seek some psych help too.. |

Surely it's nothing to do with anger as his side were winning by a few goals, they were controlling the game and he was calm before hand. Anger management is normally used when someone loses there temper in a certain situation, but there was a situation. So why lose it? Seems like an impulse thing to me. |

anyone who impulsively head butts another person, (the player was stupid in pushing Pardew also) has issue's..
most 'normal' people dont go about assaulting folk, he clearly has an anger issue and whilst that does'nt make him an isolated case he needs to address it.. |

Headbutting the employee of a competitor....I wonder what action should be taken? A 14 year old lad has his head kicked in by the opposition centre forward. The centre forward receives a 3 match ban from the FA. The victim leaves football through fear.
I despair |

It shouldn't make any difference if he's the manager or the toilet attendant, a headbutt is a headbutt, and should be considered, and dealt with, as gross misconduct, with the disciplinary sanction appropriate. However, footballers get away with it week in, week out.... |

I don't think they can sack him because the precident has already been set. Practicaly every week we see players headbut an oponent. As far as I'm aware no ones been sacked for it yet.
Being the manager can have no bearing on the outcome what so ever. Players are adults, just as the manager is. You can't have one rule for one person and a different rule for the rest. |

The rules need a severe overhaul. The governing bodies need a revolution and complete transformation. I am losing my love the game rapidly as I see the effects at junior level |

Maybe put him on anger management course, it's not as if the players nose got splattered across his face is it. More of handbags at dawn really. I saw worse in the playground at school. Steve Bruce wasn't condemning him much. I've only seen some still photographs.
Maybe they should fence the technical area in like they used to do with the fans. The player I believe provoked the situation by pushing him first, should he not also be punished? Getting involved with an altercation with someone off the field of play.
He'll get punished by the FA as well as the club, maybe the police will get involved.
Eden Hazard only got a three match ban for kicking a ball boy and the boy never got physical with him first. |

Can't Sack because it would cost too much, now come on yes he in a long contract but do you think Ashley would not have wrote into that contract that if we sack Pardew he will only get x amount and from what's been said in the past ammounts to 1 million so he ain't going to get anything near what ppl think he will, just ask KK |

If he breaches his contract and/or break a law. Surely they can sack him and not pay anything out? Also clubs should write that into everyone's contract that any form of violence can lead to instant dismissal and will mean no pay out or any form of compensation will be given out. |

It can be and should be sacked for this incident, yes it goes on on the pitch, But as a Manager you are expected and rightly so, that you lead by example. Now how can he discipline players under his management |

Blimey taking out the fact he is manager and should set an example that's a moral argument. He clearly regretted the incident and said so and yes he should set a better example, but it's football, it's all about emotion, good and bad.
I'd just like to say though that it wasn't even a head-butt, it was one of those dumb touching head incidents you see, nothing more than handbags. Anyone would think he'd actually hurt someone or butted them which he did not. The media love to make a massive deal out of these things because it's what they peddle.
He's been fined by the club, the FA will also now investigate and maybe (if the player or the police decide to) he could also be prosecuted.
For the record I don't like Pardew.

I agree with the second bit and that's what I said. Then I thought the threat was there. So he deserves some form of punishment and he shouldn't be in charge if setting an example. |

Yep, purely impulsive it definitely was; he was winning the match & deliberately dummy'd the ball & opposition player to kill a few seconds, exactly what a player would do; but to react like he did when the player went through him (Pardue could have got out of the way), was plain weird, -
Purely impulsive weirdness!
But sack him for what, - doing the exact same thing that himself & coaching staff instill in to the minds of the players, who, in turn just receive a ban?
There's a rare withe of hypoironycritical here!!! ................if that's a word? |

"Well I'm glad nothing like this ever happens in rugby!
No, they just bite each others earoles off and gouge each others eyes out."
People love bashing football (maybe along class lines but maybe not) and comparing it with Rugby, but that's daft cos it's a minority sport.
I watch both and they smack the shit out of each other in Rugby.
Blimey, I bang heads more with my husband kissing him, than Pardew did with his 'head butt' |

Atleast in football if a player gets up and wants to react to a bad tackle. He can confront the bloke that does it. Can't do that in a lot of rugby challenges. |

He doesn't need an anger Management course,he needs a head butting course.
It was definitely more a push with the head, than a head butt.
Though Pardew should be Thankfull Meylers reaction was honest, and reflected the force used.
Football's a game of passion,If you expect no controversy, nor incident,
Then football's not for you.

I wonder what would happen if I gave a headnudge at work - somehow I think I'd be getting my P45!!
Yet again a lack of leadership from the FA!!

They couldn't sack him without leaving themselves open to massive legal claims. They don't sack footballers for the same offence so the precedents have been set.
If they had sacked him, from this day onwards they would have to sack everyone else who dared to touch brows.
The FA aren't that brave or should that be daft?
The fact that he is the manager and so should be seeting an example doesn't come into it.
That viewpoint would work in an environment with adults and minors, but as footballers are seen as adults they can't have one rule for one person and another for someone else. |

He was never going to lose his job him and fat mike are close friends and you need to think if they sack him who would take that job? Big club yes but while he's chairman and clearly does not want to spend money why would a respectable manager come |
