Anyone been using yahoo for camming?
It seems more than your friends maybe watching…
GCHQ have been tuning in and recording too
Although in this story it says innocent users so maybe they still haven't found what they were looking for.(there could be a song in there)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/internet-security/10665599/GCHQ-secretly-captured-images-of-innocent-webcam-users.html
Bit of a long link... |

worse, actually. gchq helped the nsa to capture and review the 'intel'. it was quite a topic in a lecture i had on Friday after the story broke on Thursday. we politics students do love a good debate. |

They're protecting our freedom, if they want intel on the bad guys, they need to watch everyone.
As long as they don't keep the data once it's been discarded, I don't have a problem with them reading my emails or texts, if it helps them stop a terrorist attack.

"Anyone's web cam can be hacked and turned on remotely ... "
true, but most people have the tools that the intel services have, i.e. facial rec, etc.
and you can be sure there is a database.
but when the story broke in the u.s., it seemed to be the case that there were more images of an erotic nature captured than anything else |

Yeah, I bet there's a few DVD's burnt, for further research like, Going to have to change all the warnings from Sydney University to GCHQ soon.
There are some very good highly effective encryption programmes available for free, do you think they're web camming each other openly when they could be using highly encrypted files? They couldn't even decrypt those messages they found on a WW1 homing pigeon recently, I think they've given up and are just getting free porn |

they admit that this started in 07, though id personally bet it was before that. there are many uses for the images, from a coldly strategic viewpoint. and i doubt there is an encryption programme online that they haven't already cracked... or actually developed and placed online themselves. |

lol
There is a reason why they havn't yet cracked that code, due to the lack of a suitable crib.
I do wonder what happens with the erotic stuff. I'm surprised one of the satirical sketch shows hasn't picked up on it and done a sketch on the Security Officers wanking off in work lol |

I think it's bringing turned by being watched, followed by utter disgust that it's various governments doing the watching without my consent |

It has been said that an encryption or security program can't become available unless the intellgence services can get around it.
When RSA was first developed, the NSA were very interested in it. The Government Ciphers are much more advanced than those available commercially though |

I hear book codes are very effective, if they don't know the book the code can be very difficult to crack.
If these encryption programme are so easy to crack why do they prosecute people for refusing to reveal the pass word? I think they actually prosecuted the guy that released a 128 bit encryption program, not 100% on that though. |

probably, the erotic material was scanned for identifying characteristics and logged as data, along with everything else. id bet that any amount of being turned on by the material present at the beginning soon wore off as the millions and millions of images kept coming in. one pic every 5 mins from each feed.... for millions of users.... over a period of five years... that they admit to....it's rather staggering. id definitely lose my interest in cock pics under those circumstances |

Have you read Dan Brown's Digital Fortress? The computer in it is technologically fantastic, but a little worrying if it actually exists or is based on fact. But it does help them catch baddies lol |

not because they can't crack it, but because they don't want it falling in to the hands of the enemy. makes more work for them, plain and simple. warfare 101. plus, they likely prosecuted that guy then made him a job offer he couldn't refuse. he's a valuable asset to security |

Prevent what falling into the hands of the enemy? If he already has encrypted the files, what more can fall into their hands. |

No haven't read that, I'll get hold of a copy. Googles 10 million dollar D wave AI quantum computer hasn't proved to be much faster than other computers designed for the same purpose, bit faster than a desktop though.
