To have surgery on a hand. The dilemma... Put up with excruciating pain, constantly and do nothing or ...Have surgery but the outcome may leave you with ... A very incapacitated hand? What would you do? |

urm ok... May leave you with a incapacitated hand... Or may not? Could solve all then? either way you outta pain... Spose it depends on the pain, and tollerance and I would ask for another opinion from a specialist before final decision  |

i am in a similar scenario ...arm is fooked and in constant pain with it but with anti inflammitories and other pain killers it is liveable ..i would not risk losing my arm all together ..all the best |

You have Viking in you.
My father had this in both hands and had the ops (not at the same time). He has been able to use both hands but his left hand has started to contract again slightly.

Is this something where accupuncture could manage the pain...???
Medical progress moves in leaps... Perhaps a.more guaranteed operation is just round the corner...

It's Danny Lickety, he's pretty young but suffered diabetes and has been insulin dependant since the age of of four... An unfortunate side effect of an IDDM Was schooled for many years in hospital. He has had numerous ops re carpel tunnel and trigger.. They now say there is permanent nerve damage. Hence are unsure of which path to take... X |

Find out about the surgeon and check their success rates. If the nerve is permanently damaged then not having the op may be as much a risk as having it in terms of incapacitation.

Find out about the surgeon and check their success rates. If the nerve is permanently damaged then not having the op may be as much a risk as having it in terms of incapacitation.

I had a similar dilemma and eventually chose an operation because my quality of life became badly affected by pain. It isn't an easy choice to have to make but I wish you good luck with it either way. |
