I need some help!!! My last firm of solicitors went out of business and took with them money I had paid to them on account! Received divorce petition through the post today and I have a question about one of the qustions! Can anyone help?? I am a bit hesitant to go down the route of going to another firm of solicitors now we are so close to the end, and my divorce as far as I am concerned is straight forward. |

If it's a simple question there are many places you can get a free answer.
CAB being one of them.
Family courts online being another.
There is no need to have a solicitor for divorce if both sides reach agreement amicably.
There are usually issues with children, access etc then it is best to have it enshrined.
Think about the gravity of the question first. |

If it is a simple question, don't solicitors offer the first 30 minutes free?
I found a good female divorce solicitor, fight fire with fire
My divorce took about 3 years but she did a brilliant job and was reasonable cost wise, being in Plymouth though probably not much good for you. |

Contact the SRA (Solicitors Regulation Association) - they have procedures for when solicitors go out of business if I recall and well be able to advise you. |

I actually did my own divorce, without solicitors. However I'm no expert in Family Law and wouldn't advise anyone else in such a personal matter - seek professionals, especially where money and children are involved.
Divorce is like running across a minefield in clown shoes! |

I agree - insurance policies are taken out by firms of solicitors underwritten by SRA and you can claim your money back. Hope it gets sorted x |
