Anybody here been 'surprised' when meeting somebody for the first time? Either pleasantly or, not so much.
Personally have been by, selfies from 45 degrees whilst looking up or lying on back selfies.
I think pics should be straight on body face shots, otherwise it could get 'awkward' during a meet.

The only time I have been surprised when meeting someone was because their pics were considerably younger and thinner than they were. No camera shenanigans could have changed that! |

Yes. Been shocked when the pictures I was sent were obviously a few years out of date  but I've also been plesantly surprised when one man was far more good looking and younger than his picture. Shame he moved from the area too   |

Ive never been shocked in a bad way,mostly thought people better in the flesh
No ones run off screaming or shouting about reporting me to trading standards either but by the time i meet someone ive chatted a while and a fair few pics will have been exchanged too |

In most cases, I do think people look better in person. With those who dont, its not really camera angle which is problem but more to do with age of pic. |

I'm happy to show men my looking like a zombie pic before I meet them. Just so they know what I look like without make up and my hair messed up. Some snap shots can make a person look totally different |

We have been stunned on a couple of occasions by the dissimilarity of people to their pictures in terms of height, weight and age. It's one of the many reasons we meet socially first in a neutral location. |

Ok so only happened once to me . The guy I was expecting was 25 5"11 and fit . The guy I opened the do to was 40 5"5 and very over weight ! The pics were clearly not him . I said sorry you have wrong house and shut door on him . He text 20 times from out side my house saying as he had driven all the way to mine I owed him and tried to get me To go 1/2s on his petrol . Then said every one lies a bit about hight , age and weight and that I had lied as well as I hadn't told him I wear glasses ! |

Obviously people pic their best photos, but the clue is in the thread title. Deceptive pics.
If your a skinny guy and your photos make you look muscular it's going to disappoint somebody whose expecting a bigger build.
Likewise the larger ladies with lying down or 'Birdseye' selfies.
Just be proud, if somebody doesn't like the build you are, they arnt going to change their mind when you meet.
Just interested in people's experiences and there's some golden ones here.
Imagine standing on a doorstep of somebody whose clearly rejected you, asking for petrol money. Fucking classic! |

I wouldn't say my photos are deceptive, but there are an awful lots that I don't upload on here because I don't like the way I look. Its natural to upload the ones that make you look good, even if they are not out and out deceptive.

U guess one of mine is a deceptive angle but it's there because you can see my face without me being instantly recognizable but if it's someone that's a potential meet then I friend them and there I am without one single deceptive angle for them to decide
Loads do it it doesn't bother me more often than not I'm pleasantly surprised when actually meeting them |

I had similar, swapped pics and met for a drink. He said I didnt look like the photo id sent and when asked why, he said I wasnt wearing my glasses in the pic. I looked at him and said that I wouldnt have said anything but as he had brought the subject of pics up I couldnt help but notice there was TWICE as much of him than Id expected ....he had a mahoosive belly and a big baw face! |

Had a height issue before...seeing eye to eye with someone I thought was 6 feet talk was a bit of a shocker lol but clearly I shocked him because he said I looked much better in person lol 
Then another that used lighting to alter his image or just wasn't the person at all lol that one didn't go over to well!! |

I think our pics are a true representation of us and we have never been disappointed with any of our meets, quite the opposite as their pics didn't do them justice and we're better in the flesh |
