Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Watching My Mad Fat Diary this week made me thing about how we sabotage ourselves.
The main character, Rae, ended her relationship with the local hot guy as she is fat and knows people can't understand why he would choose her.
I have done this in the past in relationships when younger (not because of the fat bit though) and I know I forced the end.
On here I have turned down meets because of my age and fatness when approached by younger, fit men. It is usually about the age and the way their comments have been framed but I know myself well enough to know there is also a part of me that wonders why they would be attracted to me.
I also question whether it a fetish thing: young fit hotties fancying fatties but only here.
As with Rae on Mad Fat Diary or anyone here I would tell them not to question the attraction and to enjoy it because I can see what the other sees in them.
This isn't about me but the wider question of whether you/others sabotage your own life?

I'm a bit like this! Mainly with age though, I mean why would someone at least 15 years younger than me REALLY want to meet me????
I mainly fear the lack of conversation would be a big hindrance |

Not now, if a guy messages me, he can see what he's getting, why should I question what he finds attractive.
When I was younger I lived with the fittest guy in town and he was an absolute cunt to me, so after that I questioned it for awhile

That's what started it with me when I was younger. I had his friends telling me I was a black bitch who should leave him alone and that he was way too good for me. He was so good for me that he shoved my head through a wall and punched me in the stomach. He was a cute hottie though.

"It's kind of the other way around for me. Because I am incredibly attractive I have in the past turned down people whom I didn't think deserved me. In effect sabotaging their happiness."
And it still hurts you know. |

I've raised this point few times in previous subjects and I know I have been turned down/left many times for reasos like this. Unsecurity hunts many women and affects their choices in a way that leaves us men not able to make sense of many womanly behaviours. One of the reasons I did hide some of my veris is that other women I am attracted to tend to compare themselves to those I've met before. If the women in my veris are thinner or popular for their success with men they would avoid meeting me.

Over the rainbow, under the bridge |
I've had a good hard think about this and can, in all honesty, say no. I'm 52 this year but still expect to be able to meet guys in their 30s. No big deal - plenty of men in their 50s trap off with younger women. I'm more happy with my body now than I ever was so no worries there. I am quite happy to get naked. What I am is what I am and since I have an honest body pic on my profile guys know exactly what they are getting. |

Not what I said. . I thought your thread is about relationships and meets not everything in life... and yes I did make bad choices in my life and I try to learn from my mistakes. |
