Best thing to do is start a dream. Something that takes imagination but at the same time is relaxing.
It could be lay on a tropical beach
For me it's flying through the sky (which is great if not not scared of hieghts;D). In vivid detail I feel the wind gently breezing past as the tops of white fluffy clouds float aimlessly below, the warm sun besting down.
If you spend your time wondering why your not sleeping it'll just get worse.
Put yourself in a relaxed state by letting your mind wander to something nice. Imagine all its details, the sights, the sounds, the feelings, smells and tastes.
If you do it properly and fully immerse yourself you'll drift to sleep quickly enough. |

I get up and go out for a bit, or do some cleaning. I find if I do something it often resets me and I can sleep after.
The 24hrs supermarket is handy if you need any shopping. Go, shop, come home, unpack, hot drink (not coffee) and toddle off to bed. |

"Trying to settle down, but for some reason I'm restless. Normally I turn the light off and I Zonk.
So how do you insomniacs get to sleep? "
I often don't get to sleep until I pass out from utter exhaustion so, sorry, this insomniac can't help. |

Either get up, and avoid strong lights which work against my body clock, and do something productive. Or contemplate a complex aspect of life, some perplexing theory or fantasire about something. Worst case, self hypnosis into trance and Im away. |
