Opinion about guys with long hair
Jump to: Newest in thread
I have long hair.... well to put it more accurate, long ginger hair. I suit long hair, my best mate says I suit long hair (and she's known me 18 years).
BUT...
I am really trying to find a job (still) and I am reading that long hair = unprofessional. I'm applying for general customer service stuff.
What are you views about guys with long hair? |

The thought that always crosses my mind if they are slender is "I wonder if he's a TV" The big burly guys I assume they like to get oily hands and work on motorbikes. |

Me personally I do not like guys with long hair, swinging wise - employment wise no problem and I would employ a bloke with long hair and I don't believe that is why you haven't found gainful employment tbf. |

"sorry but a man your age should know better "
Well I think that comment is a little harsh, at any age it is his hair and up to him, with short hair wouldn't make him more knowledgable or indeed a better person!! |

my ex has hair right down his back, always has and he's never been without work, you see a few long haired business men now days, I do not believe now days an employer would turn down a suitable person for having long hair so long as it was clean and tied back
I like guys with long hair depending on their look, its suits some but not others |

Dont follow fashion if you dont want.to. However if you genuinely feel its doing your chances in you know what you need to do.
When I left the forces in.the.nineties I immediatly grew a mullet because i'd had.short hair for ten years. I looked a complete dick....!

OP asked for our views on males with long hair so I gave mine, wasn't a slur on his intellect. |

well
hellooooooo... lol
i dont mind guys with long hair, and i have never had any adverse reaction to being one, except for the matter of my fringe being about 6 inches further back than where it was.
but still, its down to the middle of my back now.
its not going anywhere anytime soon anyway.
just ensure you tie it up out of the way, fella. mine always is for work. |

Why then on earth for eg should a man of say 20 oppose to a man of 50 "know better".
It is only a hair style and women do not get berated or told they should know better regardless.
A hair style to me is personal preference and yes you gave your opinion but with a slant, simple as that. |

I prefer shorter hair, doesn't have to be neat & tidy though quite like the bed head look.
not a fan of longer hair unless you look like Johnny Depp in Piratea of the Caribbean |

Don't cut it off, I've never had problems because of my hair! Just make sure it's tidy and grease free! Lol
To the guys that hate, no doubt ur just all going bald
Regards women, I see it like this....some women hate it some love it, but for the ones that love it, makes me unique and not many guys have long hair! So the women that do like guys with long hair, defo appreciate it!! :D |

Long hair really works for some guys and generally I am anti discrimination. If you feel it is affecting your employment, then you may be right, as our own beliefs tend to influence our results. Developing flexibility is a great trait, so if you find you are fixed, inflexible and resistant, then consider how you could develop more flexibility. Changing your hair and other style may be one way to do this. |

I have to agree, I don't see the connection between age and a hair style
that's like saying to a middle aged women in heels at your age you should know better
makes no sense to me |

Although my hair isn't staggering long, I've been fairly lucky as the career I chose generally allows you to wear what you like and this extends to personal preference on hair.
I was actually at a company a few years ago who told me to my face to get a haircut and wet shave daily, several times. I just laughed at them but did feel I should compromise so got a trim and shaved my stubble shorter. I resented it a bit though.
If it helps you get a job, just do it. It may not be right, but it'll grow back. |

Hahaha We have found that any insults we have taken have come from angry bald men.....lol
J(male half of JB!) has always had longer than average hair, at the mo it's the shortest it's been in about 15 years lol n it looks gooood its been all different lengths n I've loved them all definately prefer a man with hair but as with every style, it's all about what suits the individual I guess.
Tends to be guys into rock music that have long hair, n tends to be girls into rock music that like it |

Good point, plus girls who are in to crappy pop would generally go for likewise. 'GTR'
