Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
This new word keeps popping up all over the forum recently. I went online and took a test and I'm 89% sapiosexual.
Do you find the cut and thrust of debating with someone a turn on? Even when you don't agree with the other person?

I wonder if there is a gender difference when people take the test?

I find intelligent conversation, lively debate, and a compatible sense of humour very important in people I plan on having a relationship with, but if I am having a quicky at a swinger club I won't be insisting on an IQ test beforehand. |

I thought that was what accounted for my 11%. |

80% There is no doubt I find witty, intelligent conversation really attractive. However I also find emotional depth and capacity to feel deeply erotic so could not prioritise thinking over feeling. I like subtle flirtatious banter but when the moment is oppotune to shift to depth of sharing openly. I would get bored if conversation was too intellectual. After I think that life is about living, loving, learning, laughing and leaving a legacy. |

I may enjoy sitting next to a guy in the pub, who can happily converse about the pro's and con's of EU membership, whilst quoting Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde and philosophising whether numbers are real or just well-defined constructions of abstract thought based on math.
However, I cannot agree that a philosophical debate is a worthwhile and sustainable alternative to great physical foreplay.
In bed I prefer a man who knows his way around 3 holes and a cleavage, to knowing his way around a 3 ledger bookkeeping system and a tax break loophole - though the latter is useful when filling out your tax returns.
For me, the important debates in the bedroom are not relating to global warming or where should the line be draw between insanity and creativity.... it should be about how long the ice-cream needs to be out of the freezer to be at the optimum consistency for coating your playmates genitals.
And if he can crack a funny or two.... bonus! |

Relationship wise I have always been sapiosexual
I would always choose an Intelligent woman
If we are talking purely on a sexual tip it doesn't matter as much. As long they have an endearing personality.
I have never really entertained "badness" fucks

80% can't say I'm surprised expected it to be higher if anything. Love someone who can discuss, debate, stimulate ... Ooh getting all hot just thinking about it. Most of my crushes are to do with how someone thinks/expresses themselves |

I keep getting the nice surprise that they turn out to be gorgeous too. Of course that might be that I am already predisposed to think of them as gorgeous but it works.

I'm pondering .... if I was bent over the bed, with someone balls deep clutching my arse cheeks, when I look over my shoulder do I want to see:
a) Someone who looks like Gerard Butler, wearing a facial expression that can only be interpreted as "I'm gonna give you the best fuck of your life"
b) Jeremy Paxman
Hmmmm.... now let be think about that for a while.
Actually, I might just head off to the toy drawer and think about option 'a' for a good 30 minutes. |

i got 94%... I already knew that however. I know i need intelligence and to be mentally stimulated to be attracted to anyone. I very very very rarely get any form of physical attraction, and base pretty much everything off the brain and personality.
At least i have a name now and not just odd! |

I once read a woman's profile on here claiming to be a Sapiophile, unfortunately she'd spelled it as 'Saphiophile'... the irony made me laugh for days.

Maybe it's the accent
Or the beard
Or the fact that he's male probably
Same goes for paxman |

Whilst it may have been a typo, this does bring into question the subjectivity of it all.... after all, if you're a thick twat then Spud (from Trainspotting) suddenly becomes Plato. |

I agree with you, it's purely subjective. Though the way I see it is that if someone feels like they need to shout to the world that they're a sapiophile and will only meet intelligent people, they would at least read and check their profile first.
Being a sapiophile is well and good (I get extremely turned on by a good debate, especially if I lose) but when it's used as a way of showing off (which it was in this case) it's redundant when the simple spelling of the word is wrong. |

"Read an interesting article on this, it seems that those who are, feel those who are not, are idiots, thick etc...... and consider those who are not not worthy. "
Sapiosexual feelings would be one symptom for somebody with That feeling of arrogance towards others.

I got 68%, which is about what I expected. I like intelligence, but like it wrapped up in someone I'm physically attracted to too. I do think some of the questions made assumptions though. Just because someone is a runway model it doesn't mean they are unintelligent, and a scientist may have a high IQ but the common sense of a 3yr old |

I find intelligence and ability to communicate a turn on. I find stupidity and text speak a turn off.
There's a sliding scale between the two.
Intelligence is only one aspect of attraction though. |

I have clearly referred to myself as a sapiosexual on my profile for quite some time now and I don't subscribe to the arrogance/superiority reference.
But hey - each to their own... |
