Creationists and religious fundamentalists are probably a minority in the US but, like other activists, they are LOUD and receive much attention. In a few states, creationists are trying to legislate the teaching of "intelligent design" or "creation science" as an alternative to evolution in public(government) schools. The Supreme Court once ruled that this was religion not science but they keep trying. However, leftists have succeeded in using schools, entertainment, and news for political indoctrination. If this were not so, we would not have the so-called president that we have today along with his policies. The federal government, which has NO authority over education, is pressuring states to adopt their "Common Core" curriculum for schools featuring a leftist, globalist agenda and criticism of traditonal values, etc. An appathetic population that has been dumbed down doesn't discuss issues and is easier to manipulate as well more likely to vote for certain politicians and political parties. Since I was in school, the political climate there has changed drastically aided by teachers unions. There has been pressure from various activists to promote their views in schools such as: Black History Month, women's history, multiculturalism, the gay agenda, complaints about "bullying" in schools, etc. all of which are designed not only to destroy the status quo but to cause division instead of shared values despite our differences. I attended 7 years of Catholic school with nuns followed by 5 years of government school in a small, conservative, southern town and graduated in 1973. We had real science in science classes. We were also required by law to take classes in American History and a class called "Civics" on how the government is organized and works. There were controversies of that period but nothing like what we have today. |
