I've always classed myself as being a tall curvy woman and have also embraced the BBW term at times.
I'm not always a huge fan of my shape, size etc but I am who I am.
Some people have said to me that i'm too small to be classed as a BBW (never been called small in my life lol)
Whilst other people have and do describe me as a BBW.
What are people's opinions on this term and is it defined from a specific clothes size upwards or own interpretation.
Any opinions are welcome but this thread is not here to start criticising larger ladies so please refrain!! |

It seems to cover, a multitude of different meanings for different people. Being basic it is simply a woman with large breasts and has no relevance to other physical characteristics. So should be used in combination with other terms perhaps ? |

As far as I know it's BIG BEAUTIFUL WOMAN.
I wouldn't in my opinion call a size 6 4"11 woman with GG boobs a BBW lol |

Some women hate the term, some women love it so that's always going to be a grey area. So for me, it's interpretation because it as much about how it's received as when it's used.

generally it is used to describe a woman or used by the woman to describe herself of a size 18 up once to get to a size 28 tends to be an SSBBW
i use it to make it clear at first glance cause lets face it if not clear by first glance guys won't glance any further for further clarification |

That's a valid point I guess.
I'd like to think that when I chat to someone I can promote not just how I look but a bit of who I am which makes me unique but I guess that's an opinion of the person I speak to |

I agree. I'm big and I'm a woman (honest) but I would never use the term BBW as I don't consider myself beautiful. I'm NOT fishing for compliments either, it's just something I'd never call myself. Totally respect anyone who does, that's their choice. |

I am aware some women would feel insulted by a term such as BBW so yes interpretation will play an important role.
I wouldn't say I love it or hate it, but I am big, i'm beautiful in my own way and last time I checked I was a woman so I guess it's a fair and accurate description |

I'm as happy as the next person.
Doesn't matter how tall we are, what are dress size is or whether we are blonde or brunette but there will usually be something we don't like about ourselves, it's just standard these days |

Some guys like skinny, others like curves, it's all about preferences so that's why I make it clear on my profile too that I ain't no skinny Minnie lol

just been trying to find some posts of old to do a cut n paste save me typing this for the umpteenth time but search doesn't go far enough back
the term was coined in america not meaning that the woman herself thinks herself beautiful but it purely means that some can find the fact that a woman is big beautiful to them
its never been meant to look arrogant on the woman's part even though so many _iew it that way but maybe that says more about them than the person using it who knows
it was originally meant to empower big women into feeling they could be found attractive by some out there nothing more nothing less |

my interpretation is, bbw is large all over,
my favorite term is 'rubenesque' the painter liked ladies with curves but still in preportion , so the word is now used to describe ladies who are big but still have a waist narrower than hips or boobs my favorite is about size 16/18 and tall xx |

Peoples definition on being BBW or SSBBW is different, the line is very vague, indeed it is short for Big Beautiful Woman.
Ive seen online people class very tall women as BBW but in all honesty everyones body is different, peoples body proportions are different.
You could be a lot heavier than your friend but she might look a lot bigger than you.
I think its how you perceive yourself and how your perceive others.
some people don't like being labeled or called a BBW, where as others embrace it
same with being called fat, at the end of the day the word fat is just a descriptive word, how you choose to use it or take it is your choice.
everyone has a sexual preference and some people are into plus sized figures but I do feel as though the line of weather someone is a BBW or not is too vague |
