Sorry to post this, not a happy post, but just found out, that my best friends dad,the guy who taught me to drink, not that I needed teaching has bowel cancer, who I knew, but instead of months, he now has hours. Feel numb, I am at my mates on my iphone, so sorry is short, but waht can I do?

His dad was like a second dad to me, and got me out of things my own dad doesn't knoe, but thinks he does.

What I am trying to say here, is is the only the good die young?

Never hurt anyone, or a bad word to day, top guy and will miss him. not dead yet, but old father time is coming xxxxxx

You have some sad times ahead and you have my sympathies. I've always found the following poem soothing in times like these, I hope it helps you too.

~

Death Is Nothing At All

Rev. Henry Scott-Holland

~

Death is nothing at all.

I have only slipped away into the next room,

I am I and you are you,

Whatever we were to each other, that we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name,

Speak to me in the easy way which you always used,

Put no difference in your tone,

Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow,

Laugh as we always laughed,

At the little jokes we enjoyed together.

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.

Let it be spoken without effect,

Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant,

It is the same that it ever was.

There is unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind,

Because I am out of sight?

I am waiting for you, for an interval,

Somewhere very near,

Just around the corner, all is well.

I had a friend read that Wishy at my partners funeral, he was taken too soon also, our son was only five years old.

I have never looked for a reason why or asked what I did wrong, all I think of those few years together is the happiness we gave to each other.

Be strong OP, and think of the good times that you DID have and count yourself lucky to have had them, the good DO die young, but leave a legacy of love behind too. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Poetry is food for the soul. I've been writing it for years but nothing as good as the one above alas.

Its a sad time and all you can do is be there for your mate etc.

And remember the good times.

Thoughts are with you and friends family. x

I share your pain. I have learnt from my own experience that accepting fate rather than trying to fight against it at time like this is probably the best course of action.

Look back and remember the good times in fondness.

Got me in tears now. This was read at my wifes funeral

But I'm smiling too remembering the laughs we had

never try to justfy why this has happened because there is no answer to why.....just try and be positive for the last precious time you have left with your friend......spend ur time in happiness with him....make his moments happy........its hard but worth it x
