"What engineering would you like advice on? Fabrication, welding and steel erecting I can help with "
does that come under mechanical? I'm clueless, hence the cry for help. I'm looking to point a child in the right direction and no man to ask in the family |

on the Jeremy Vine show today they were discussing the shortage of Engineers in the UK. Think the figure was about 61k
there was a great young lady on who has just completed an apprentice with BAE, she spoke very well.

"What s the little one trying to do,? "
he's advanced in Mathematics and grasps concepts quickly. He was fascinated by the engines at the Science museum and I didn't have enough knowledge to explain things to him. He likes Science and Space too. I can't inspire him any more |

Have a search on google for a local club.
Lots of guys still make steam engines etc.
Model railway clubs are full of guys that are only to eager to pass on the wealth of knowledge they have.
Also any steam railway group in your area, are always looking for new people to help out.

Have a look for your local STEM club. There are more and more events and school workshops getting held around the country toencourage more people into science, engineering and maths . You don't necessarily need to be able to explain it ... Just support development and let them explore |

He'll need a good grasp of maths and physics as the basis for any engineering career. There is a national shortage of engineers (especially women) so hence the adverts etc on tv. Some excellent apprenticeships available or he could go the academic route. Either way we will always need more engineers. |
