it must be tough for single mums & dads but well worth it I am sure.
when it is tough, think to the good times, the laughs, the smiles & the rest of the golden moments.

It is hard ... but I keep a very organised social calendar ... ensure that those meets I do arrange are as far as possible 110% dead certs ... and yes enjoy and appreciate the good times ... children are a gift not a burden after all !!! |

"some split families i find get more free time than those who are together "
Very true, not split but widowed, my in-laws were fantastic having the kids weekends and a lot in school holidays, ended up with more totally plan-able free time than when their mother was with us. |

I play loads during the daytime. I've a great group of friends who will always help me out at the drop of a hat. That's what friends are for, as well as going out and having lots of girlie d*unken nights out.
I must be lucky to get so much free time at weekends too. |

How old are your kids? How old since you have had them?
Mine were 10 months, and 3 when I split with their mother they're both girls, I have learnt to do plaits, I have spent many hours doing hair playing barbies and still got many many more to go, I honestly haven't met anyone in more of an awkward position as me, although I enjoy every minute, I put my kids first for everything, I am preschool committee member, have attended and do attened every available toddler group..... From what I know abd from what I have learnt ..... Men do it best!!! No insecurities, no 'I'm nit sitting in a room full of strangers' no bull crap, there should be more of us!! Don't care what women will say about that it's true!! Men are better at being single parents than women |

When I was meeting it would be the rare days off when they were at school or clubs. Easier when they were younger and god bless nan and grandad for baby sitting but it does get harder as they get older but my first priority will always be my girls my pleasures come way down the list x |

There are no right and wrongs to parenting, as long as 100% is given and a child is loved. I find it hard to swallow that you state men make better single parents..
some men may be better than some single mothers.. but i dont believe your statement to be true |

Just me n my 10yr old son... my time is limited due to being a single mum, working full time, and doing an NVQ.
i use to meet when he was at nannies house or during school hours.
i still do social meets on the odd occasion and i agree it can be hard.
But my son will always come first x |

I have looked after my 2 daughters for the last 4 years and they stay with me full time.
I wouldn't have changed anything. Not for one second. They are great kids but it's been hard at times
One or 2 things that I feel. sometimes feel rather lonely as a single dad .
But I miss the odd night of passion and the social side to . Being out in some lovely female company would be nice to

In our experience.......... Men do a better job than women, I agree with cap'in, women have far too many insecurities about themselves to put a child first, maybe it's just us and our experience, (and maybe cap'in could have worded it better he's been told off) |

Obviously you all need to get out more and meet other mothers.... That's where our experience comes from...... We attend groups, we speak to people we go to clubs we're out the we have both seen how quite a lit of single mothers have put themselves first, have never thought about whats best for their kids, but them we can say we are probably more of an active family than most, we're rarely indoors we have no problems doing stuff with our kids, and if you feel the need to have to defend yourself or slate us for having this opinion then you obviously have a guilty conscience. Everyone has their own experiences and this is ours!!! |

I was a single parent and know its not easy irrespective of whether you a mum of dad! I'll be honest and say I've been incredible lucky as my daughters dad is amazing with her but the point everyone seams to be missing is there are amazing single parents of both genders out there and some crap awful ones as well whether they are single or in a couple. Life is to short to debate who's better if in fact either is. All that really matters (to me) is that a child is loved, nurtured, encouraged and cared for. |

Being a single parent is very hard . Have been for the past 2 years now . I personally have to rely on grandma to help . I am quite lucky that I get to play out a few times a week . But as others have already said . They come first . Always !! |

In my opinion, being an amazing parent means giving up things that you'd like to do. Children come first. I certainly don't think inviting strangers into your home for sex, if you have children with you, puts you into the amazing best parent category |

Wether people believe me or not about my kids. And me being a single dad"
My post was aimed at people posting in the thread professing to be the best of the best single parent, but advertising for a meet at theirs last night and with settings "can accommodate, can't travel". I might be wide of the mark, but it looks as if they meet with kids at home. |

It's tough being a single dad but I'm trying to destress and chill this week as my daughter is at her mums for half term.
Is is useless and doesn't see her daughter for months at a time so sometimes it's really hard to organise any kind of social life, let alone naughtiness but I live in hope |
