Why do people just stop talking after a few days of messaging back and forth?

Because it's their choice to do so.

You've bored them, you've said something to put them off, they've had a better offer, life...who knows!

I'm usually bored... To be fair on here I have the attention span of a goldfish, if someone doesn't catch my attention within the first few messages I move on. There is only so many mundane conversations you can have on here before you start to worry how many brain cells died while you typed a reply...

Or indeed how many brain cells the person who messaged you has. Some of the spelling in messages suggest a lot of loneliness going on in some peoples brain cell* department

*Not a spelling mistake

Especially when most phones/browsers have a spell checker built in my biggest issue is punctuation

It can be because I'm bored, or not feeling like chatting, or busy, or something has put me off, or I've been distracted by a pretty butterfly or any number of reasons.

If it happens and I've not told someone I'm not interested or blocked them then I'd consider it reasonable for them to leave it a few days, or a week or two, and then get back in touch to ask if I'm still interested.
