it is normal when you first start waxing to require re waxing at quicker intervals. The longer you wax, the longer you can go in between waxing sessions. You should never shave as this makes the hair grow back faster |

"I'm the same, that's why I don't bother now, had everything waxed for a 2 week holiday, only to have to shave after the first week "
I'm now wondering if it actually took the hair out including the roots or if it just snapped them. I plucked downstairs myself because it was too short to wax and that's still baby smooth |

Is because your hair grows back at different rates. It can rest for five years! !

I know, but I have waxed at home, also depilated (??) many many times, and the wax job, still had the same results, think I'm just a hairy bugger |

"I had my legs waxed recently and a week later I needed to shave them.... is this usual?"
Yes, it's to do with some hairs being at different stages of growth than others. You need it done regularly to begin with to get all the hair, so it's all in the same stage. |

Oh. Ok. Thank you. I was thinking of not going again. I'll let it grow enough and then give it another shot.
It wasn't painful at all, like I'd been led to believe it would be. Enjoyed a chat and chilled out listening to relaxing music. |

I find an epilator easier for my legs. I can do it at home, whenever it suits me. There's no cost once you've bought the epilator. It's no more painful than waxing (in my experience). No stubble like with shaving. And you can do it regularly to begin with, (weekly is recommended for the first 4-6 weeks I think), so you can get all the hair to the same growth stage. At that point the effects should last longer. I epilate every 4-6 weeks now. |

Thanks for the advice. We were discussing the epilator option. |

Hair has three parts to its cycle, anagen, catagen, telogen. Anagen is when it is actively growing, catagen is its transitional phase and telogen is it's resting one and because hair isn't in the same stage all at the same time is why some grows through mid wax. |

Do you think that will work on chest and back hair? |

Yes. I know men that epilate their chests. It will be a bit painful to begin with though. I'm not sure how much the back would hurt but much less, I'd expect. |

Epilators and any loose skin are a recipe for bits getting caught! It's also much more painful to epilate down there than to wax, in my experience. |

That's absolute nonsense. Shaving only cuts the hair close to the skin whereas epilating or waxing removes it completely, that's why it appears to grow back quicker after shaving. Cutting hair has absolutely no effect on the rate at which it grows. |

I epilate my foo foo, have done for ages. Hurt like hell the first few times but I hardly feel it now. I do it once a week to make sure I don't lose the pain tolerance, could leave it longer as even when hair grows it's fine and soft so I'm silky smooth all the time. |
