Hot Air Balloon Flight

Hello Everyone,

I went on a balloon flight yesterday evening. We took off from a sports field in Basingstoke and flew for an hour and 20 minutes over the beautiful Hampshire countryside, and landed in a field near Winchester. We had to help get the balloon set up before the flight, and then pack it up afterwards, but that was all part of the experience. Drinking champagne deep in the countryside at sunset and looking at the Moon and Venus after a fantastic flight was brilliant. Soaring gently over the landscape, spotting deer, rabbits, hares, birds of prey and even doggers (they were probably members of FabSwing – HeHe ) was just sublime. If you ever get the chance to go in a balloon, I’d highly recommend it. It's one of those things to tick off your list before you die!

Emotional Gush Over.

It's not necessarily as expensive as you may think. I think we paid £150 per person when we did it.

We flew over the cotswolds, partly because it's local to us but also because it's one of the prettiest parts of the UK.

Our pilot was the guy who does a lot of the stunt work whenever they have a hot air balloon in films. He was telling us about when he did the stunts for the James Bond film where they flew over the Millennium Dome. He was a very nice man

Funnily enough, my other half who I went with suffers from vertigo too. She almost did a runner whilst the rest of us were helping set the balloon up. She was very nervous to start with, but seemed to find the peacefulness of the ride to be calming. Once we'd reached a decent height she started enjoying it.

If you ever get the opportunity, then I'd recommend you take it, and try to get over your nerves. If it's a nice, uneventful flight then it's something you'll remember for a very long time.

Awwwwww....but then again, I don't think you need a balloon to get high X

My ticket said 160 squid but I think we got a corporate discount. It was a big basket and there were 13 of us, 3 others and the pilot. I was holding the mouth of the envelope whilst it was being inflated. I was quite excited and then a gust of wind blew the balloon on top of me and I ended up flat on my back (just like Fab Swingers in that respect).

I have ALWAYS wanted to do this. Infact, I was talking to hubby about it today. I'm thinking I'd like to do it for my 40th.

As someone who gets dizzy changing a light bulb and who nearly passed out on the London Eye I can't think of anything worse for me!!!

That said if I didn't suffer so badly from vertigo a balloon ride over the Nile and the Serangeti sounds soooooo romantic...aaaaaah!!

""up , up and away in my beautiful balloon" dont know the next bit"

Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon

Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon

We could float among the stars together, you and I

For we can fly we can fly

Up, up and away

My beautiful, my beautiful balloon

The world's a nicer place in my beautiful balloon

It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon

We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky

For we can fly we can fly

Up, up and away

My beautiful, my beautiful balloon

Suspended under a twilight canopy

We'll search the clouds for a star to guide us

If by some chance you find yourself loving me

We'll find a cloud to hide us

We'll keep the moon beside us

Love is waiting there in my beautiful balloon

Way up in the air in my beautiful balloon

If you'll hold my hand we'll chase your dream across the sky

For we can fly we can fly

Up, up and away

My beautiful, my beautiful balloon

Balloon...

Up, up, and away

I have too much free time on my hands
