Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I suspect settling to write a report is going to be difficult today.
I have a day of waiting for the car to pass its MOT and service. I am currently waiting for it to be collected. Then I wait for the call to tell me what needs fixing. Then the wait to get the call that the part isn't available followed by the MOT result. Finally the wait for my payment to clear and the return of the car. That tension at the last hurdle of whether it will be here in time for me to go out to my evening meeting or whether I need to change my plans at the last minute.
How should I manage the wait and tension? |

last week mine went in and I had the same feelings as you it won't pass this and that will need doing, rang them an hour later and was told to come and pick it up.
I wasn't expecting that, so you never know it could only be a quicky |

Spend it looking for your local councils phone number and enquiring if they do MOT's
Ours does and you know there are not going to be any extras or fiddles going on - they have nothing to gain by failing you ( like doing the repairs) You get a first class honest MOT.
Old guy we know got quoted £350 to remedy MOT wor from a national chain- He tried the council MOT and it passed!
Not that all Garages and MOT stations are not 100% honest and only do work thats needed |

I can't get to Luton - the car is in for its MOT. |

"Draft an apology email ready to send when you realise too late that you don't have transport. This will save vital seconds at the end of the day."
Won't it sound more plausible when I call all flustered and angry that I can't get there? I don't want people labeling me a time waster. |

Ah, but this may be a cunning and deep laid scheme to avoid going out tonight |

My local authority doesn't do it for the public.
Something does need sorting though as it has been guzzling oil this last year. It is old but there aren't any leaks that I can see.

You could always plan your journey on public transport |

Who knows what's in the depths of my psyche.
Olympic Ice Sweeping and Dave Allen sound like the best plan. |

But I have to be here to receive the car. |

Hmmm there is merit in this. Your soft lilting tones would certainly persuade me of anything! |

"I'm waiting for virgin to come and install my tv "
I had a Virgin wait the other day. They sent a very dishy young man - it was worth the wait.
The car has just been taken. He was in and out before I noticed.

It's got a cracked cam cover something that is causing the oil loss. No leak as it has been pooling in a tray under the body. £118 plus VAT. The only other thing is that the front wipers need replacing.
It could be worse I suppose.

"That's not that bad all said and done "
I've paid and now I am waiting for the car to be returned. This is the real nail biter: will it arrive in time for me to get to my meeting?
I'm watching Ski-Shooting or whatever it's called. They ski a bit and then shoot a bit and then ski a bit more.

"The whole cost is just under £380 for the full service. Now they bloody send me an e-mail for a 60% off MOT of £19.
Real life trolling at it's best. "
I feel I should buy an MOT for someone as it's such a good price.

"380 all in what car is it please ?
"
It's a nine year old Micra. The £380 includes the £118 for the broken cam thingy causing the oil leak and the new wiper blades, full service and MOT.
