I know it's been a week of posts of real life Casualty from me this week.
...just wondering would you be worried if in the morning you were coughing up a lot of blood? Just a question.

A little blood goes a long way but still best to either see your dr or call NHS direct. I know of someone who vomited a half mug volume of blood. The hospital doc said it was one of those things... |

Amazing that someone whose condition so obviously requires urgent medical attention...would prefer to seek medical advice on a swinging site!!!!!! Most people would be on their way to an A&E....!!!! Unbelievable! !! |

I don't have it anymore. It's all gone.
...was quite thick and dark in colour. All my other symptoms are all finally going down. So, guess the antibiotics are working.
I did something a bit stupid though and went plodding around my throat with my fingers.

Unless there's a slow back-fill of blood into the lungs. It could be anything from a bitten tongue during sleep to an pulmonary embolism, which can kill. |

Thick and dark means it is old blood. It's still worth checking out as you may have torn something. If you have any fresh or pink frothy blood don't hang around.
And stop sticking things that don't belong there in your throat.

It might just sound a bit worse than what it really is. It's not like i was sputtering blood...it was just there til i got rid of it all.
...and about the the A&E. They rejected seeing me the other day as i wasn't in no pain and could still fully function. Today's the same. Not going through all that 'don't waste our time' drama again.

See your GP then. Ask for an emergency appointment for this evening and explain to reception what it is about.

Ring your doctors surgery, tell them youve been ill and are now coughing up blood and they will make room for you on the waiting list. |

Coughing up blood is not usual. If you have a chest infection and keep coughing lots, you may have burst a minor blood vessel. But there are other causes of this symptom, so off you trot, Popeye, go and see your GP. |

Maybe coughing up blood was the wrong phrase to use. It was just a one off occurence. And just took me a while to get rid of it. It was just there when i woke up.
That was the first and last of it. I thought it was to be expected with these illnesses. So, wasn't too concerned about it.
...and i'm not the kind of person that goes to the doctors too often or as regular. But, i'm alright at the moment. Feel better than i did before.

...and the problem with your post is that whilst some will 'hopefully' realise you are joking....I have an awful feeling that the OP might actually take you seriously! Hence another good reason not to seek medical advice on a swingers site and definitely not to follow it....other than the advice to seek professional medical advice as so many have tried in vain to say!
I wonder why the OP even asked anyway ..if he has no intention of taking APPROPRIATE action??? |

I'm positive!!
...it's not that serious you know! I just woke up and had a mouthful of reddish black blood - which just took me a while to get rid of because of my bloody tonsils.
Why am i posting on here? Because i prefer to hear real life experiences and stories on all this so that i know i'm not alone.
And yeah, i know i should see the doctor's. But, i know what the process is where i live and whether they'd see me or not.
...you'd know i'm dead where those who have me on whatsapp stop receiving pictures of my food. That's when you'd know i've croaked.

I just find this really hard to believe. If someone is truly coughing up 'a lot' of blood as you describe, and attended an A&E then there is no way they would turn you away without seeing you. Unless it wasnt really as you describe. I have never heard of an A&E refusing to treat anyone on such grounds...simply because of what it MIGHT indicate! We are not talking a paper cut. You said you are coughing up a lot of blood!! Sorry but I dont buy it! |

A&E turning people down? Sounds like BS to me. I've had a few trips to A&E a few times and they don't even send away the Fri night piss heads.
They do advise less urgent cases go to the local wAlk in doctors but don't refuse to see people. |

'Why am i posting on here? Because i prefer to hear real life experiences and stories on all this so that i know i'm not alone'
So if you were having a heart attack...your first priority would be to go onto a swingers site to see who was had similar experiences? ????? Or would you think to dial 999?
Coughing up blood can be very serious.... or not! But you are not qualified to make that judgement but if you attended A&E at the weekend for the same thing..and you are still coughing up thick reddish brown blood this morning...it doesnt sound like nothing to me! |

Ah well...I apologise for any inaccuracy then....its just that he said he went to A&E at the weekend when he felt far worse and was turned away.. (wouldn't happen!) so I assumed it was for the same condition. Irrespective. ..my point remains. X |

If you're coughing up blood, try to capture some of it - even in a clean handkerchief if that's all that's available.
Take it with you when you go ASAP to accident and emergency. You ARE an emergency and the blood will probably get you right up the queue.
Good luck.

Quite right too! If you knew of some of the nonsense people regard as an emergency! You wouldnt believe it! Its called 'Accident and Emergency' for a reason! But coughing up a lot of blood IS an appropriate reason to go to an A&E! |

That's what happened to me. And they sent me off to the Walk In Centre.
...and like i said. Coughing up blood may have been the wrong few phrases to use.
I just woke up to see my tongue covered with a mouthful of blood. That's all it was. I wasn't spluttering/coughing any blood or anything like that. If i did, then i would have gone ASAP. But, from what i could gather it doesn't seem to be that serious and may have just been the result of me plodding around with my fingers. |

Because people like to wait until the weekend or other out of hours times to see medical help for something they have had for some time.
I do understand that not all GP surgeries are as accommodating as mine but I don't understand waiting until you know there is limited care available.

I usually can't see my GP unless i'm willing to wait a week or so. I'd be fine and dandy by the time it's my appointment or dead! So, i tend to just deal with things myself..

"most GP's have 'on the day' appointments but you have to ring first thing to get them. "
Mine does. You have to ring before 9.30am or turn up before 10.30am and they will see 6 people that way every day. Although I find it easier to just book for the evening appointments between 6 and 7 pm as for some reason people don't seem to want those slots. I have never been turned away when I have needed to see someone. If I need want a specific morning slot then I book in advance but that won't be for anything serious or irregular.

"And if all else fails, tell them you have chest pains.
And while they are doing tests on someone pretending to have chest pains someone who really needs their help may not get it "
And they complain about time wasters in A&E???? Amazing isn't it? Yet with that advice there are still people who would prefer to seek medical attention on here!!! |

You trying to tell me there isn't a guy here who you would love to see in a surgeon's outfit having a right go at your oesophogus and checking out that bronchitis of yours?
...if you think you're getting medical attention on here then i tell you. Poke and probe me all you want. Because all i'd let you do is an anal exam. Probe me!

"Not knowing what happened to the OP in A&E but we were at A&E last week with someone and they had a sign up saying if it isn't an emergancy then they might ask people to go home and see a doctor instead
Quite right too! If you knew of some of the nonsense people regard as an emergency! You wouldnt believe it! Its called 'Accident and Emergency' for a reason! But coughing up a lot of blood IS an appropriate reason to go to an A&E!
Oh yes I agree with it too....a person was there and I was ear wigging , couldn't hear what they had but that they had had it for 4 days so you think why the hell didn't you go to the docs
"
Best thing is to get up early and turn up at the surgery .. tell them you will wait for an appointment or a now show... you only have to wait for routine stuff if you feel ill just go there they will see you. |

"I know it's been a week of posts of real life Casualty from me this week.
...just wondering would you be worried if in the morning you were coughing up a lot of blood? Just a question.
"
Do you really need to ask the answer to a question like that ?
Of course I wouldn't be worried, I usually howk up loads of blood in the morning, it's quite normal ... |

Dont you worry about it...
Just keep us all informed about how its going and we can all learn from your example...
But just in case you stop posting suddenly...
What sort of flowers would you like us to send to your funeral and would the mourners understand if the card said 'From all your friends at Fab Swingers'
'Will miss your cock!' |

You could always do nothing and hope nothing bad comes from it. Like it sounds you are going to. But it's looking a 100% yes from everyone that you should get it checked out. You ask why you posted on here? Well you did and people are only trying to help. But it's up to you in the end. But if it is something and you don't get it checked??? Blood should only be seen on the outside when you have a problem ( unless it's the lady time) that is why it is inside us. If it's where it shouldn't be that's NOT NORMAL. Go and get checked out Ffs. |

Yeah, i've got an appointment in an hour.
It's not that easy being seen by a medical practitioner as quickly as many have suggested. Especially not in my part of town anyway (from my experiences).

Good. Let us know how you get on. And if your part of town is slow, just go to another part of town. |

Just got back from the doctor's and all is well it appears. Although, she was in mid writing me a note to the hospital to get a chest x-ray til i told her i went about poking my finger about in my throat lol.
In all seriousness, nothing to worry about she said and to finish my course of antibioitics.
Cheers guys and girls |

So your lesson is, when you have a sore throat caused by a bacterial infection it's not a good idea to shove a bacteria laden finger in there just for the craic.
