courtesy on our roads

what has happened to courtesy on the roads??

really gets to me that when I pull in for a car to come thru on say a narrow lane, the other driver doesn't thank me at all, not even a nod of the head!

I was taught that if someone pulls in for you, you then put your hand up to thank them

this just does not happen nowadays

if they don't thank me I usually thank them with a sarcastic hand up, trying not to just stick one finger up at them

anyone else feel that there are no manners on our roads anymore?

Manchester Area

I always acknowledge if someone lets me out at a junction. We have had roadworks in our town right by the junction for weeks now and I must admit drivers are very good at letting people out.

I always raise my hand to say thanks

Its sad but saying that some say not answering messages on here is too. I would rather someone keep both hands on the wheel and not ding me though while waving.

Another increasing phenomenon, is when approaching a narrowing, because of parked cars on *their* side of the road, drivers just barrel in with a **** you attitude forcing you to scape the kerb if you're not careful.

I was taught "Obstruction your side - you wait".

Yeppers...... NOT obstruction your side you wait and then see if the other person takes their hand of the wheel and waves or flashes their emergency lights and if they don't you simmer inside.

You can usually tell when they won't thank you, I then give them a set of V's with a fuck off thrown in

i thank people who let me past and if im letting them past and they thank me i nod my head as an acknowledgment of their thanks.

Being a 'local' i know the spots to slow down/give way.. it makes its more for my benefit that im not gonna do damage my car but what i do find a tad frustrating is seeing someone else who is local trying to pass on the same section of road as me when i'm already half way along the narrow stretch.

I think most people do acknowledge people but there are a few that don't.

Had one a while back, near where I live there are some very narrow roads and a guy didn't acknowledge me after giving way to him, after a very sarcastic wave and smile to him off I went, came back through an hour later and who should I meet coming the other way, in exactly the same stretch of road, the same range rover haha I had slowed slightly and he assumed I was going to give way again, how wrong he was, I floored it and he had no choice but to give way, my van was bigger than his range rover, cue another sarcastic over emphasised wave, thumb up and smile.

My biggest pet hate where I live so if I see them approaching I hog the lane almost touching the white line.

You wanna play chicken with me ?

Bring it on !!!

Bu first I check my rear mirror to make sure there are witnesses lol
