Hey ladies and gents, how is everyone getting on with their healthy eating/weightloss? I'm down 5lbs in 3 weeks, could have been more but i've lacked discipline at times! Cracking on today though!

Well done-keep going! Easier said than done but try to remember the reasons for wanting to lose weight in the first place and persevere. Maybe try a new recipe?

Slimming world works for me but I struggle as I have no time to cook! One evening a week I do a big batch-gets boring though!

To lose my gut you mean?

The recipes in the magazine are good and batch-cooking is a winner but sometimes i just crave a sin-laden curry/chinese/anything. Must persevere though! How am i gonna fit back into my suit for my cousins wedding in July otherwise???

What makes you want to join something like a slimming group, given the failure rate? This is not a provocative post, I'm genuinely interested. Is it that you feel the need to be a part of a group, or is it something else?

I think the peer pressure helps, getting weighed in public every week. It strengthens your willpower

And everyone is supportive as we are all there for the same reason. Plus, its fun. Well, we have a laugh at my group anyway

I think for me I got to a certain stage where I was willing try anything, luckily I'm not one of those in the failure statistics, the support definitely helps

The thing is though you get weighed in your clothes and in the evening. So its not an accurate weight as your meant to weigh yourself after your First pee and naked and then you are the correct weight

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

I would imagine,as long as you are wearing similar clothes, and get weighed at the same time every week, doesn't really matter what time the weigh in is,you are still going to show gains or losses in weight

What I meant is I don't dislike them as there are many success stories etc they just don't work for me and I know a few other that have lost lots of weight by doing it themselves...WW and SW are expensive and I'd rather use the money I pay for that on buying good quality healthy food...

I've increased my food intake (particularly protein)and restarted gym, so a 2lbs loss in my first week is fantastic. The last time I "dieted" like this, I lost just under 2lbs a month.

I'm also avoiding microwave meals.

I have been at sw for two weeks and lost 4 1/2 pounds I have a long term goal so happy its coming off slow

I would like to say a big well done to everyone who is dieting and keep up the hard work

I go to sw because it motivates me and I have made new friends I wouldn't last if I did it on my own without sw

Well done ladies and gents. Keep the motivation going strong and we'll all be healthier and seeing a little less of each other in no time! Remember it's not a 'diet' it's about lifestyle changes! If I can do it with absolutely no time to cook, so can anyone! X

What a ridiculous thing to say. It's up to the individual to maintain their weight not a company. And the company would argue that they had given the individual the tools to avoid that happening, so of course they aren't culpable.

Out of curiousity, are you a SW agent, do you run your local "company" branch?

Not really. The success of weight loss clubs like SW a WW is the failure rate. How many other businesses can you think of that base their success on your failure.

Reply privately, Reply in forum +quote or View forums list

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

It is ridiculous to insinuate that the company would give people their money back, whether the business is built on failure or not. As I said, the groups give people the tools they need to succeed, if the individual fails it's their own fault not the fault of whatever plan they have done.

It all most 3 stone she has lost .. I think 2 pounds to go . She is at target weight . She now wish to stick with this way of eating but have some treats now and again but as she say it don't feel like a diet. x

Actually, they dont - they give you an ability to eat at a deficit. They don't teach you how to maintain. Ths is why people lose the weight, stop going, gain it again and go back.

Also on MFP here...

Lost about 5 and a half stone.

Am now bulking...just put my calories up to 3200....

Up 2lbs in 4 weeks...

Nope, disagree. Hundreds of thousands of people maintain their target weight and they offer free lifetime membership to those who are within 6lbs, 3lbs either side, of their target weight.
