When my son was little and he needed the loo when we were out and about, i never let him enter a male toilet on his own and would take him into the ladies with me.

He would only go into the mens when he was with my dad or one of my brothers.

This was discussed on "the wright stuff" this morning and it came across like it was wrong....

Would you do the same as me or just point them in the direction of the nearest loo ?

I've seen a single dad come in the ladies with his daughter. He obviously didn't want to take her in the gents. All the women in the ladies loos gave him admiring glances. No-one gave him a hard time. He was very respectful.

if I was in a public loo, I would feel uncomfortable if there was a young child in there.

if they struggled, I would leave and let the mum know.

Nothing wrong with that at all. I think my son will of been around 8 when I let him go to the gents for the first time on his own and then I hung around the entrance waiting for him x

Isn't there a toilet for disabled folk which would solve the problem?

It must be difficult for single dads with little girls, wondering what to do. Ive been asked many times to take a little girl in to the loos by a dad with a desperate child.

"Isn't there a toilet for disabled folk which would solve the problem?"

Well most public disabled loos are locked , they are in my town anyways,. the disabled have to apply for their own key and have to pay for it to.

You can get keys for disabled loos from Amazon, you do have to pay for them but anyone can get them disabled or not.

I'm a single dad, I take me youngest into the men's, but if she's with her sister they both go to ladies, I'm always waiting outside,

There is always someone with a key to let them in....shopping centres....they buy their own so they dont have to ask/wait....

if there was a single dad and his daughter id imagine its acceptable for him to pop into the ladies.. just a polite shout through the doors to ask i its ok. doubt anyone would object.

Sheffield

This arose because a man took his daughter swimming and took her into the female changing rooms cos he didn't want her to see a room full of naked men.

To be fair most public toilets don't have the correct facilities for boys as the uninals are too high, we see no reason why mums shouldn't take boys into the ladies, they have cubicles who's going to see?

Or their dad's.... There are cubicles for privacy...

I always went into whichever adult I was with... Or a kindly shop assistant...

Yes.....

Exactly...

I'm not offended by kids using the same public loos as I do. After all, they use male cleaners which come in unannounced.

Problem is the dirty ass seats, hence bacterial wipes, hand gel and a good dry off with paper before sitting em down, or just holding her mid air hoping it goes down the toilet, problem is with my daughter she puts both hands on the seat ans holds herself up, but I never let her do it in public loos

There was a 4 year old boy sexually assaulted in my local supermarket about a year ago... He had gone into the gents alone while his mum waited outside

I did exactly the same thing and very rightly so in this twisted world we live in.

Be proud you care that much that you think this way.

I did this with my son when he was younger. Too risky not to
