Ok, time to get the debate started, who should go?

Given the number of Liverpool players who are English and currently enjoying fantastic form, should Hodgson take Flannagan, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling and Sturridge and build a team around them as they will have a good understanding of how they play and with the likes of Baines, Rooney, Barkley, Townsend etc it could make for an exciting team?

Flannagan was around the England squad before hsi injury, I think he is a real talent. Townsend has been injured so jury is out but certainly would add pace.

Would rather see a team of hungry youngsters giving it a real go (albeit most likely in glorious failure), than see a bunch of boring has beens scared of expressing themselves and suffering embarrassing failure.

I think the defence could be the area where there is most debate, no real stand out leaders in the centre, the United boys have looked hopelessly out of form, I doubt they will eat humble pie and speak to Terry so there are places for grabs there. Maybe time to look to some of the lesser clubs like Hull with Curtis Davis who is having a top season and is obviously learning a lot from Steve Bruce.

Not sure on Welbeck.

Bambi has more ball control on ice.

Lambert would be better.

Nobody fancy Adam Johnson for a recall?

I don't think we have a hope TBH, even less than normal!

I really fancy Belgium for a semi (final, not a hard on)

Johnson will be in the reckoning I'm sure if he keeps performing as he is for Sunderland.

I suspect Hodgson already has 75% of the places filled, but hope he will look at the players in form and clubs in form at the time and take those who are full of confidence, rather picking on reputation which England managers have consistently done in the past. Time to be brave!

Probably, so time to be brave and blood a new generation supported by Gerrard, Lampard, Cole and Rooney as the senior players.

Id take Crouch over Welbeck or Lambert,Dont know what happenedto him being out of favour but Crouchs Goal scoring record in an England shirt is Phenomenal and Always gives us an option from the Bench

Cole is not getting enough minutes on the pitch.

Lampard is well past his best.

Gerrard was never a top top player, whinging scouse git.

That leaves Rooney as the best we have as a senior player...

Shearer still looks fit as a butchers dog and is probably younger than Roger Milla was who was awesome in Italia 90!

If I were england manager my 23 would look like this as of today... I'm going to be a bit controversial

Keepers :Hart, Forster, Ruddy

Full backs : Baines, Shaw, Johnson, Walker

Central Defenders: Cahill, Jagilka, Jones, Smalling

Midfield: Gerrard, Wilshere, Carrick, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Barry, Berkley, Llanna, Lennon, Sterling

Strikers: Rooney, Sturridge, Lambert,

Most suggested squads thus far have Jones and Smalling in them, I really see no case for either based on current form.

I was trying to think of better options... michael dawson has the speed and turning circle of an ocean tanker... Lescott doesn't play enough for city, which leaves the likes of shawcross or steven caulker (who i really like)

the one I like who i think is under rated is scott dann who is now playing for palace... but we shall see how he turns out

Cole is proven at the level and some experience would help if the rest of the squad is relatively young. Gibbs time will come.

I wouldn't take ashley cole either...

See as an arsenal fan I really like Gibbs... but Luke Shaw is something special, the boy can defend as has one hell of a motor going forward... and is a better crosser of a ball then gibbs...

if shaw or baines got injured.. gibbs is no.3 for me....

Gibbs is current 2nd choice at Arsenal (maybe not after the weekend!). Shaw is a talent and might force himself into the picture. Cole is still a very solid performer and I can't see him not being there.

No, but were I Hodgson and Baines got injured I know who I would rather have to step in. Gibbs is totally unproven at the level and has yet to prove himself at Arsenal so I think the tournament is too soon for him. Shaw, Flannagan etc who are excelling for their club would be better bets.

Flannagan is not bad cover as he can play both right and left back... but if I was going to take flannagan then I would be tempted not to take a right back.... probably glen johnson....

still not buying the ashley cole arguement... not having henderson if you are taking 4 centre mid players.... Gerrard, Wilshere, Carrick and Gareth Barry (who can be an emergency left back if needed) i would take both Ross Barkley and Adam Llana as they are both better atacking options if roy ever gets radical and play a 3 man midfield....

Haven't tried to formulate my squad yet, but doubt either Barry or Carrick would be in it. Both have struggled to impose themselves at this level and can't see that changing so would be inclined to go for younger midfielders, Barkley, Henderson, Oxlaide-Chamberlain etc.
