Go home or face arrest campaign

How fucking ironic that the immigration minister mr Harper had an illegal immigrant working for him for 7 years

You just couldn't make it up

Another example of the two faced cheating swines that are ruining our country

At least he's resigned. But I thought an employer could be fined if they hadn't done the necessary checks to ensure someone is entitled to work for them.

"At least he's resigned. But I thought an employer could be fined if they hadn't done the necessary checks to ensure someone is entitled to work for them."

is the minister the direct employer or the Government etc.

Have to say, having recently gone through checks just to be a civil servant it does make me wonder how an illegal immigrant can get through checks to work for the government

Let's not get into the same old bullshit argument and focus on the post

Let's discuss the MP's who con us and have so many double standards

He will resign but will he suffer ? If I did something in my job that either got me sacked or I had to resign id be shafted and would probable never get a similar job

It's a disgrace and he should be ousted as an mp

Will he suffer? Well he's no longer a minister and I suspect that the odds of him ever leading the party as he had been tipped to have probably increased massively...

But yeah he still remains an MP

Just because he could suffer more doesn't mean he isn't suffering. From potential future leader of the party to back bencher is pretty significant.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I saw this earlier but didn't dare post a thread.

He has resigned but Cameron has praised his honour in resigning and left the door open for him to return when he feels ready.

The problem with this is that the onus is on the employer to make the checks. The law says that the employer is open to prosecution for not making adequate checks. Employers have complained that it can be difficult to meet this test and the minister pooh poohed this.

His defence is that he made the checks and was surprised to find that his employee is an illegal immigrant.

What a ballsy illegal immigrant to go and work for the immigration minister, get the job, go through the checks and then do a good enough job that they remain in employment.

i know it can happen to some and it can happen regardless of how much you earn as well. if you overstretch yourself on a 100k+ job you can be declared bankrupt and lose their family home just as someone on minimum wage.

i was being a bit silly i guess and maybe a bit flippant as is my want.

oh and before anyone says it, yes i know someone very close to me that, for a variety of reasons has been declared bankrupt.

I supported a guy professionally who had a 100k job lost it...lost his home as he could not afford the massive mortgage lost his family and lost everything but he never lost his dignity or self respect...he was housed and turned his life around once more...but at a cost
