..it's times like this you can tell the NHS is going down the pan.

Got no walk in centre at my local hospital so have to go elsewhere for that, the GP out of hours service is a bit shit. They don't even want to speak to me when i said i'm at the walk in.

Doing my head in. They've sent me on a wild goose chase just to get someone to see me!

you have been ill for 4 days & wait for the weekend, then seek treatment.

around our way, we have 2 fully manned 24/7 A&E services in both the local hospitals (with 10 and 20 miles)

also have a walk in centre in the local main shopping centre for GP services, not to mention the NHS direct service, which again runs out of the local hospital.

we had to take my old man to north staffs last week for a throat operation, and the only complaint we can have is the lack of communication to relatives.

we were there fro visiting but no one knew where he was

took over an hour to find out he was still in theatre recovery and we couldnt see him until he was on the ward, but they were getting him then, but it still took nearly another hour until we could see him, and even then they had only just brought him up.

my mother was beside herself with worry about him.

i feel for those living in major metropolitan areas as it does seem to be they are purely a number and not a person anymore as they have just so much throughput of bodies

hope ya get sorted, pops

Today is the only day i got out of bed and am actually moving about. I thought my usual remedies of vicks and orange juice would do the trick. But not this time.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Get better. I doubt there is anything they can do for you anyway. I think you have a viral infection and it needs to work its way through.

Go home. See you own doctor on Monday and in the meantime keep yourself hydrated and rested.

I have no problems with my GP or local hospital. I rarely use out of hours services as it's either an emergency or something that can wait. My first port of call in a non-emergency, non bleeding situation is the pharmacist and I have never been let down yet.

Haha no!

The vicks is for my neck and head lol and the orange juice for my throat to the stomach.

...can't afford private. And i rarely fall ill too. But, when i do - it ruins me for weeks

And i can't drink or eat. It burns in my throat. Weird that.

At least i have another hour and a half maybe to wait.

As I said above it is likely to be viral. I hope you find it is bacterial and your trip has done you good.

It's amazing how many people think they can diagnose what's wrong with someone by just read what's put on here. If you have been that ill for days and not able to get out of bed until today then yep I would do as you are doing and seek medical advice.

So what if they say it's viral and you will need to ride it out at least it comes from a professional

If you have tonsillitis and you get a penicillin jab you will start to feel better tomorrow so it's worth waiting to see someone. A few years ago I had a bad cold which progressed to tonsillitis, just swallowing saliva felt like swallowing broken glass. I thought it was the flu and stayed at home for days until I couldn't bear it anymore. Within 12 hours of getting penicillin I was feeling much better, I'd had all that suffering for nothing!

I didn't even know viral and bacterial illnesses were that different; even with different treatments or none at all.

...i must live a sheltered life - usually, it would have sorted itself out. But, this time round, everything is different.

I haven't even had a high temperature this week if it was the flu. All i had was like the chills, headaches, head spinning, massive tonsils, can't eat or drink anything and more.

Still waiting to be seen. But these chairs are comfortable.

That's exactly how it is. Couldn't drink any fluids without feeling as though i'm being stabbed by Jack the Ripper

I'll tell you something fella. Get rid of the NHS then you'll see how much it 'does your head in' - once you have to get your cheque book and pen out each time you need medical attention.

didnt even know what walk in cetres were until last year.. nearest A%E is about 45mins away that if the ferry across the river is on your side.. if not its about 50mins to drive around..

even if we called an out of hours GP we have to drive 25mins to see them. only 24hr chemist is 45mins away ..

im still glad we have the NHS though
