I started playing Ingress after someone posted about it on here. It's a good little diversion that gets you out in the open air. Even if it is as unwinnable as tic-tac-toe.
But are there any players on the forum here that actually understand the plotlines behind the game? I've been trying to fathom it out but it's like someone who never watched Lost jumping in midway through its run instead of starting from the beginning. I've no idea who's who, or why, or what they're doing? And what are all these events with silly names about?
And the investigations to find passcodes, sweet Jesus. Look at the source code to find a random phrase, convert it to Swahili then to Mandarin and finally to ASCII or some such bollocks. It's for proper hardcore nerds. I mean proper. Even their anoraks have anoraks.
It just seems they are trying to get people involved in some many threaded conspiracy plot which is utterly confusing unless you were in at the start and kept up with it's weekly episodes. I've given up trying to understand now and just enjoy running round making things green.
And if you don't play Ingress and have no idea what I'm on about, then you are in the same boat as me as a player.
So if anyone wants to enlighten the enlightened please feel free. |
